At first he seemed choppy, but he got warmed up and truly started kicking ass. But the singer is just irritating to both Bill, and myself. Got old quick. It just wasn't holding my attention. I left around 1:30 and they were still playing.

I just wanted to see him, as I never have before. Truly great player. But, just not exciting to me. After an hour, I had my fill.

Guess I'm in a different place now. What was cool 20 yrs just isn't now. We'd probably get bored watching VanHalen at this point.

Well, Van Halen with drunken Eddie, sure. A sober VH with Roth fronting, might still be a fun thing. Regarding George, at least yoiu've seen him now. I saw him with Dokken in 1986 so I have no desire to see him now. I know it'd be a disappointment as he's using the cheapest players he can find and is said to be spotty these days.

Today I'd rather see dokken with Jon Levin, or the DLR band, than Lynch or Van Hagar.

Bill told me he saw Dokken with Reb Beach, and Beach killed Lynch doing Lynch's material.

I've seen Dokken with other guitar players other than Lynch (or Beach) and was never all too amazed. Had to see george though. If I hadn't been so tired i probably would have stayed to the end. It was just getting old and i was beat so I bolted.

hmmm...where to start [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]...well My bro John mentioned that we seen one of my old guitar heroe "Lynch"..MAJOR dissappointment for me [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]..he was just minutes down the street and John was already there..so I HAD to go..!!

WEll..He open with "Kiss OF Death"..knowing that riff inside and out..and been playing it for for 20 years..I can honestly say..I was BUMMED..he seemed to just go "thru the motions"..very "choppy" and very sloppy indeed..there were moments of "greatness" and moments of sentimental vibes..but very few..not enough to keep from walking out the club 40 minutes into his set..

His TONE was the worst ...horrible..and this is GEORGE FUGGIN" LYNCH we're talking about here..one of the true early "gurus" of tone..he played a Randall all tube Poweramp and preamp Sig protoype..YUCK! [img]/images/graemlins/sick.gif[/img]
No "body" to his sound at all..all tweezy, sizzly, high end..very thin...no "girth" whatsoever..I was shocked to be honest..and it wasn't the sound system / sound guy..they had their shit together..it was that lousy Randall bullcrap..Lynch seems to be the gear whore..when it comes to freebee endorsements..oh well..wish he played a Bogner or "somethin" cool..I don't know if that would've helped at all ..I dunno!

I would NOT trade his tone for my 'ol Marshal rack ..and my rack is gettimg quite "old school" nowadays..with all the high gained tubed monsters coming out and availuable..I'm not kidding.. [img]/images/graemlins/nono.gif[/img]

I was VERY disappointed to say the least..

It wasn't the case of being "dated'..My wife and I saw and hung out with Reb Beech and his wife when he toured with Dokken a few years back backstage while he was warming up..Reb bows down to Lynch and is very humble about his playing..but I have to say the Reb did a much better job on george's own material..he nailed it like the record..something george couldn't do the other night..that's for sure..he seemed lazy, sloppy, very choppy and disjointed!

Hmmmm..what else..Vinny WON his first "wrestle off"..something that is quite "rare" for being the newbie..but like Vin anything he "wants" to do he does VERY well..he earned his wrestling team starter jacket and INSISTS on wearing it today at school..It's so damn cold here..he can wear it as long as he throws his hoodie under it..he wants to show it off..so I'll let him [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

His first match is this Sunday ...wrestling at 120lbs..he'
s 14.5...but the team doesn't have a 120 pounder...so instead of forfeiting that class , they bumped up Vinny to 120 instead of 115..so I guess he's allowed to have his beloved PIZZA tonight..the pounds won't hurt him now..he's getting in great shape..he shed his baby fat and doesn't look like "Cartman" anymore..still acts like him tho.. He's a tough little shit..and is starting to whoop my ass around the house..all he wants to do is wrestle..so I'm his tackling dummy now.. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I been going thru all my music lately..to weed out a few things to make room for more great new stuff always coming in , speaking of which ..the new Zero Hour , Primal Fear , Pagan's Mind , Shadow Gallery , Hypocrisy , Old Man's Child , Nocturnal Rites comes to mind..but the new Helloween and Gamma Ray was kind of a let down..still worth grabbing tho..if your's a fan..as I am..fuggit. I been practicing / shredding ALOT since I been away from the computer...dialing in my G Major and Uber , boosting the mids up like crazy..really loving the tone..I couldn't be happier with my tone at this time..I have NO desire whatsoever to seek "tone" elswhere"..so that's a good thing..the only desire I have is to get my playing as good as could be..and you have to play EVERYDAY to get there..I had just discovered that again..just recently..like right now.

"Talking" about tone and gutair does NOTHING for your playing skills unfortunatley..so less talking and MORE playing..and playing and playing..I'm going back into the "woodshed" mode..and I love it..I never not loved that! [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

I got to talk to my Sis Emmy for the first time ..person to person..on the phone a couple weeks ago..it was great talking with her..she sounds EXACTLY like how I expected..I played some guitar for her..sorry about that EMMY.. I had to stay away from the board..people including myself seem to be a bit tense and that's not a cool thing at times..so head butting is inevitable..and unnecessary...and that is not what I come here for, contrary to popular belief..that is why I have been away..so I think that prooves it..

So I am taking a "break"..I will return..a kinder , more "gentle" Bill Z Bub..you just don't know how much "effort" that takes..because I'm a wound up, cynical , nasty SOB at times..I admit it..I can't help it..its a package deal..I see my shrink aboput it twice a month.

There is some dogs you can "poke" and some you can't..I fall in the latter..its the nature of the beast..it's who and how I am..nothing personal..even tho at times it may seem so..trust me its not..words my freinds..just words..

we a have a thing called freedom of speech and I excercize that right on a daily basis..my way..but just because we have that "right" doesn't make it right to say the things we do..I'm guilty of that..that's why I've been away for a bit..hindsight is always 20/20..some things that are said here..well you just can't take back..I call that Sears and Roebuck talk.. Try not to say things out of "anger" that you can't take back ..here and at home..words are just words..but at times they are weapons that cut deep..

The "debates" that go on here are just plain "silly" at times..

ALL people have the right to like or dislike ANY amp , band or musician and etc..without personal attack...a attack on your favorite amp, band, religious or political stance is NOT a attack on you..but so many...including me at times lose sight of that..or just don't "get it"

This is a GREAT forum with great people..it should be a "fun" place to go to to talk with like minded folks..that seems to be difficult sometimes..people will clash...it's human nature and there's NOTHING that ANYONE can do about that..we can try to give the respect that is due to one another and leave it at that..this is a brotherhood ..that's how I see this..but like many large communities you will have "clicks"..that's just the way it is..and people will not always see eye to eye ...still no reason to treat them badly..unless they're an asshole (they do exist)..and in that case they weed themselves out..folks like that won't get respect and eventually disappear anywhoo..

So, I wish all of you a great Christmas, even to you "Bah Humbuggers"..it's your right to be miserbale..I want to "try" not to be miserable for the kid's sake..that's all..just for them..that woiuld be selfish of me to impose my misery on those I love..it just fuggin' is..I'll keep all my cynical, miserable BS to myself long enough for them to have a good time..that's my job here ..that's MY duty..to ensure they are well taken care of and have the best Christmas they can have..fuck me..my Christmas were gone long ago..but no need to steal theirs..even The Grinch realized that....so I'll watch the Grinch again and Scrooge for a refresher course.. he grew out of his mini Strat...and has his Line 6 Spider...I could get a brand new ESP "M5?" I believe for 175 bucks out the door from my cuz..he has them on back order..your thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated..I want a non-trem..humbucing bastsid..tradtional and "comforable to play...No V's and whatnot..something he can sit down and play the hell out of for a while..I was thinking Epis / Hamers / ESPs and etc..Jacksons of course..but I want to keep it around 3 bills new..so the ESP seems feasable..especially at 175 bucks..10% over dealer cost..so I'll prolly go with that..and Loomis plays em..so Vin likes that Idea..
