    I like the new GTO but I do think they could have done better... I've got a 98 Trans Am with about 400hp now and it's IMO absolutely gorgeous! I can't believe they stopped making them and Camaros. I wish they'd bring back the Chevelle but they'd probably f_ck that up bad! I like the Charger concept too but it really does need 2 doors. I mean come on everything else out there is 4 door, let us keep our 2 door muscle cars!

      the monaro the new gto is based on was a complete bullseye for the australian market. The original monaro ('68) went through a huge amount of design changes, and ended up a subtle sportier-lined two door version of the sedan. The new monaro hit the same mark.
      The gto was a beast, and this new gto isnt quite the beast of yesteryear. The car itself is great, its awesome, but I strongly doubt its 100% gto material. The new model in the coming months might rectify this though.
      As for the charger, 2-door is an absolute necessity. I love 4door muscle sedans (hsv gts, bmw m5) but yeah, why rape the image of a classic to support a slightly larger demographic of modern auto buyers.

        IMO this is more like a toy than a driver ....you don't buy toys new , unless you don't mind losing your ass on depreciation value ....I don't like losing money.


        Toys are any old rods be it 'stangs , mopars , vettes , sports cars , bikes ....whatever..that's cool!!!

        They all demand X amount and sell for the same if not higher amount after you have it for as long as you want...

        I'm fixin' to get rid of my Vette that my dad and I had since it was a year and a half old...

        I want a toy and an investment at the same time ....so I'm lookin' at older Dodge Vipers , 427 Shelbys or a ZO6 or just a really nice C5 ....something along those lines..depends on what car for how much.

        Believe me I like the looks of these new cars too ....except the new Vette...they screwed up this time IMO.

        The new Mustang looks promising , the GTO looks pretty good but when parked next to a mint Viper (could be a 94,95,96 who knows & who cares)..you won't even acknowledge the GTO ..and you're paying the same amount of $$$$ for it....

        more bang for the buck ...well if you got the buck I guess...

          If you want an investment buy a mid year 65-67 vette or an E Body Mopar, nothing will sell for more than those 2 cars

            I know that's what I'm saying ....once the depreciation bottoms out the value of the car levels off ....then starts to gradually increase again ...if they car is well taken care of ...


            Yeah you'll look at these cars now because they're different looking ...then newness novelty wheres off...

            Remeber when PT Cruisers came out (seemed like yesterday)....you were put on a waiting list ....people were paying over 5 to 10 K over sticker for the damned things .....now every old lady has one of those piece of sh!ts....

            Give me something fast and timeless and something that says ....hey fu ckface look at me....well that's what we want nice looking cars for right..

              I don't think anything is better than a 67 hardtop with a 427 and a M22 or a 71 Cuda with a six pack and pistol grip

                Best bang for your buck. Early 60s Impalas, Galaxys, and Starliners. On the auction block they are not pulling in big bucks yet, but once the muscle cars dry up these early muscle cars will double or even triple in value.

                      Other than more SD Charvels. My only other dream is to purchase a true numbers matching 69 GTO Judge. I am one of the few who actually prefers the hideaway headlights on the Judge. I have wanted one for the past twenty years. But now I need to win the lottery to actually buy one.

                        Found a nice red 96 with 17k on the clock for under 30k just a couple of weeks ago ....my dad caught it in the paper...

                        They are out there ....somewhere my ride is waiting for me....beckoning me ....I find somethin' bad azz ...it's my only selfish goal at the moment...

                        I'll be the first one to admit I suck with a wrench....but I need the speed ...my **** is pretty quick ....but it's slow to todays standards...

                        I got my ass whooped hard on the freeway last year by a Viper ....it was ridiculous ...and I was goin' 135 mph+ when he creamed me...he passed me in style too all blacked out ....Boy was he smilin'

                            Well my absolute dream car is a... bare with me here... 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 Baldwin Motion Phase III. There were only 12 made and they had like 575hp. It ran like high 10's or low 11's with stock tires. Damn I'm gettin hard... It also had a Muncie M22 four speed with reverse lockout lever and an Overdrive lever, power windows, and rear window defrost! Now that's a bad motherfucker!

                                IIRC there were only 99 Yenko Camaros built in 1969... or was that Yenko Chevelles??? [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img] Maybe it was 201 or something.... oh well...Have you ever seen a 69 Baldwin Motion Camaro? That is one sweeet car!
