Re: I just received some great news....

I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease a few months ago but I felt fine and had no symptoms I took Tetracyclin (sp?) for about 3 weeks, had no side effects... I should be alright now but I never went and got checked up again.

Hope you get well soon

Tetra is one of the strongest antibiotics there is. Good stuff.
Vancomyicin is the strongest...I hate that I know this stuff...

Good Luck, Jim.

Re: I just received some great news....

I found a tic on my arm about 2 weeks ago. I've been a little paranoid about getting lyme, but it hasn't come throught yet. I think I made it out of the woods (no pun). I hope you feel better. It's good to know you'll be alright, but it must suck knowing that you will get more ill waiting to get better.

Hang in there bro and keep us posted.

You are definitely lucky you caught it early Jim. My dad got it and caught it early and had a full recovery. My friend at work wasn't so lucky. He felt bad for a long time and wasn't properly diagnosed the first couple of times. Needless to say 20 months later he is still taking antibiotics. That's not a good thing. Best of luck with your recovery. I'm sure you be fine since you got it early. Hell with your state bird, the mosquito, you've probably had and acquired an immunity to West Nile. Two years ago when I was up your way they put a hurting on me while I was mountain biking. The next day I was as sick as a dog. I can almost guarantee I got a dose of West Nile.

Thanks for the well wishes. I have been through worse. I shouldn't even be upset about it. I just never thought I would get it. Watch those ticks out in the woods.

While I was at the Philly show my buddy noticed the tick bite area had that 'bullseye' look.

Yeah, that's the classic characteristic skin lesion the bastard tick leaves, called an erythema migrans. Good thing you caught this relatively early. It could really mess someone up after having it a year or more.

Everyone beware of ticks! These things seem to be everywhere this summer, especially in the Northeast and Midwest where a lot of em carry Lyme disease!

Yeah dude, you are very lucky in having detected it early. I've heard some really nasty stories about the long term effects...Hope ya get better!
