Re: what was your first guitar

Noname classical. I ripped up the bridge by putting steel strings on it, under which the guitar buckled.

Hey, I didn't know any better!

First electric (after another classical and a Fender DG-11) was a Washburn Chicago Series (Ibanez RG copy).

I only had it for 3 months, I dont remember much about it. Just that it was sparkly grey/green, HSH.

But then the high E string kept getting stuck under the edge of the 3rd fret. A constant problem, it stuck there all the time.

So I traded It for a 1995 Peavey Predator. OH MY GOSH, what a machine! I absoluely love that guitar, and I will keep it forever. I consider this my first guitar, its the one I learned on. (I was barely doing power chords very slowly on the washburn, hehe)

Now, I am a heck of a lot better, the Peavey Got some fantastic DiMarzios, and a custom pickguard. It has the absolute BEST Neck I have ever played. An increadible guitar, it shreds and rips with the best of them!

Re: what was your first guitar

My first was some noname acoustic. Ended up smashing it on the sidewalk when I got in a fight with my Dad.
My second, my first electric, my Mom and Dad bought me for Christmas one year probably 1986 when I was 15... Biggest piece of sh!t ever.... it was a "Harmony" came with a little Gorilla amp, sounded like ass! I wouldn't even try to learn on it... well a little. I ended up selling it to a pawn shop one year to help with my xmas shopping for my girlfriends family. It didn't help... I got $10 for it.

My first real guitar was a 98 KE3. Nice guitar... sold it and bought my Model 6... I miss that kelly....

Wow!!
1st guitar.(acoustic)
Well, I think it would have to be an old Kalamazoo...
I saved up for it myself..
After a while, I think i stepped on the top in the dark one nite. It was never the same.

1st electric was a Teisco. YIKES!
Then i graduated to an Epi V and a proline Ibanez.
discliked those both and turned them in about a week.
After that, i scored a BC Rich Warlock NJ. it was my purple monster!
I miss that guitar awfully!
Had to pawn it back in 93 and lost it forever...

A Peavey Predator from when they were total strat rip-offs that were made in America. I put a SD Hotrails in it and it sounded great but I traded it and my second guitar ( JRR-94) towards my SL1.

Some tobacco burst strat copy. I don't even remember where I got it, or what happened to it! (This was around 1983).
My first real guitar (heh) was a red Guild Burnside Rhoads copy. I bought it brand new in 1985, and I do remember what happened to that one...one of my "friends" borrowed it then left town.

First guitar was an acoustic purchased at Best (a catalog store) for $60. First electric was a Sears Les Paul copy in sunburst finish. Good times.

my first electric was a red hardtail Hondo Explorer exactly like this one [image]http://shawnlutz.com/hondoexplor.jpeg[/image]
I wish I still had it for sentimental reasons but she ended up a pile of ashes after doing a drunken Pete Townsend impression one New Years eve shortly after running out of firewood at 3 in the morning

Re: what was your first guitar

A black cheap Explorer copy. Lasted a year. I got a pink Fernandes Charvel type of guitar to replace it.

My first Fender was a '65 Mustang in Dakota red. They sure made alot of those that year. I bought it from my study hall teacher for $60. Had it around for years and sold it after Kurt 'Nobrain' Cobain offed himself and drove the desireability up.

My first was an $80 Dixon strat knockoff. Got it with a Fender amp back in '84 I believe.

Re: what was your first guitar

my first guitar was a nylon string acoustic, the brand name was "Chris." it was given to my sister by my uncle john when we were little kids (i was in 1st grade, so about age 6). she was supposed to take lessons, but never did. after i discovered kiss a year or so later, i took it from her. armed with a mel bay book, i learned how to tune it, and learned the notes from frets 1-5 and 1st position chords. then i figured out how to play my sharona, and i've been playing guitar since.

it's also where i started trying to fix guitars too; the nut was chipped, and there was a chunk missing between the b and e strings. there wasn't enough slot left to hold the e string in place, so i took a small nail and nailed it into the headstock! it held the string in place, and all was well! not bad for an 8 year old.

first electric came a few years later when i was 12. it was a maxitone, which was a copy of an ibanez strattish copy. it was from the 60s, so it was kinda funky. i wish i still had it, but i see them from time to time on ebay. if i see one that was the same color, it's mine!

i got my first good electric when i was 14. it was an early 80s bc rich nj warlock in midnight blue. it had their firebird/strat style headstock and abalone/mop logo. did my first pickup swap in that guitar, and i've never used dimarzios since!
