I don't really have or lust for any "holy grail" type guitar. I guess if I had to choose a "holy grail" it would be a custom shop Dinky, a white Gibson Flying V, or that black Hamer that the guy from Kataklysm uses. I'd love to own that Hamer.

I've already owned all the guitars I've lusted for, so now I look forward to taking a chance on something new and being really pleasently suprised, like my Suhr.

Star guitars hold zero appeal to me. Well, except for Jakes strat.

I fell in love with a guitar that gibson made for a few years in the late nineties-Les Paul Double cut Studio. There is nothing especially intriguing about it, but it was made with a transparent green finish that was awesome. I played one and it was fantastic. Unfortunately I was a poor college student at the time and couldn't afford one, even though this was before Gibson jacked up all their prices-they were around the 600 dollar mark if I recall correctly. Wraparound bridge, two HB's and a toggle...and green.....

O own several "Special" guitars. Each one is special, even if only to me, but as for the "childhood dream axe", I've already got it - a Les Paul Standard. While it's not a 50's original or ReIssue or Historic replica of Page's, it's still a USA Gibson Les Paul.
Always wanted a White LP Custom, and a Black one with 3 pickups. I found a White one with 3 pickups, so both wishes came true in one guitar (even though it's been through Hell and the middle pickup was added on).

And a Double Rhoads. That one's in the oven now [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Now if we're talking about that guitar that has sentimental value, or is comfortable as an old sneaker, the one you just couldn't bring yourself to get rid of, there are a couple.

It used to be my Charvette 270RR. I've had it for years. It's pretty beat up, and there are spots where paint has either rubbed away, or chipped away. BUT, it plays like a dream, and has that "worn-in" feel to it. I will never part with it.

My current favourite is an oddball Aria Pro II Cardinal CS350. It's an oddbal because it's the only 25-1/2" scale Cardinal I have ever heard of. They are all supposed to be 24-3/4". Plus it is (factory) trans-yellow finish that does not appear in any literature, or catalog. I bought it real cheap, with a cracked body, fixed it, and put it to work. It plays effortlessly, and sounds amazing. it has an ash body, and 3-piece maple neck. The dual hums can be in phase, out of phase, and coil split. I can get anything from Les Paul tone, to Strat tone very easily. I'll never part with this one either.

I want a USA RR1, white with black bevels. I had one before and sold it. Wish I never would have. For now, my soloists will do.
