Re: Stu T Davis??!

Man, sad, sad news indeed. My prayers go out to Stu's family. What a tragedy. Stu knew his stuff and shared his knowledge with others (myself included), he will be missed.

Re: Stu T Davis??!

Hey guys,

Stu's wife Monique called me last night around 12:30am PST to tell me of his passing. He and I became good friends through a few conversations and numerous late night chat sessions. Like many of you, we initially met through talking about gear and guitars, but our relationship grew beyond that to a genuine friendship and I will miss him very much.

I hope that Stu realized how loved, appreciated and respected he was before the end. I can tell you that he enjoyed communicating with his online friends and needling some of you, too! But he was a genuinely nice and gentle guy who didn't deserve to go out like that.

Take care of yourselves. If I hear any pertinent information from his family, I'll be sure to post it here.

This has just been the absolute crappiest week so far

RIP Stu - God Bless him and his wife and family, and all his friends.

Some part of me wants to say I'm glad the dumbass bus driver died as well, though.

Re: Stu T Davis??!

Wow, at first when I started reading posts I thought it was a motorcycle given how people reacted..but this is tragic & awful. Any accident that takes life is, but if he saw it coming it was but for a second or two. I hope it was quick.
The bus driver may have a heart attack or stroke, irregardless, still a day of bad news.

To those who are good friends and family who may be reading this, please accept my sincere condolences. Having read Stu's posts, he really enjoyed music and had much to share in a friendly tactful way. He'll be missed.

Re: Stu T Davis??!

I can share with you that Stu and his wife had some financial issues that forced their move from So Cal to South Carolina, a place he had NO intentions of ever returning to. Monique, Stu's wife has some serious medical conditions that require constant care, as did Stu himself. Their finances were **** because of government beauracracy, not a lack of desire to work on his part.

Those who would like to contribute whatever they can, I suppose anything at all would help. I'm not sure how we could set up a fund or something like that. Might be easier to keep it low-key and just forward whatever you can directly to the family.

I'm going to try and contact his family to see if they object to giving out Stu's address. In the meantime, if someone wanted to me to forward anything to them, you can hit me up via email at [email protected], and I'll give you my address.

I know this is the Internet, but please feel comfortable that I'm not some scam guy. Stu was my bud. I've communicated a lot with Sully and Chuckracer primarily at this board, and I'd like to think they would vouch for me. You can also ask Lee Garver and Neal Moser about me, they both know me. I'm just trying to do my part to help out during a sad time.

My main reasons for not just posting Stu's address are 1)their privacy should be respected now as they are dealing with this tragedy, and 2)I don't want any opportunists contacting them about Stu's gear. I'm sure everyone can understand that. But if Monique gives me permission, I'll post their information here. Thanks.

Re: Stu T Davis??!

"The truck and the Ford had stopped in the outside lane as emergency personnel dealt with a 10-car pileup that had just occurred in the eastbound lanes.

Wilbanks, owner of Bowa Trails Charters, apparently did not see them and ran into them."

This is something I have seen too often. I was a tractor trailer driver for 12 years, so I speak with probably 3/4 of a million miles of experience. I will tell you all as I have been telling my friends and family for years. If there is an accident and traffic is stopped, you MUST get out of your vehicle and get to safety if there is time. Do NOT sit in your car and hope the traffic behind you will stop. I do not know all of the circumstances of this case, but I can't tell you how many times I have seen people sitting in their cars on the shoulder of the road waiting for help when they should be standing behind the guard rail away from the car. Yes, even in cold or rainy weather. Many cops and tow truck driver have been killed or injured working on the shoulder or in a traffic lane. Please let's all think of our safety on the road and the safety of others around us. It only takes a mili-second for tragedy to occur.
This is not meant as preaching so please don't take it that way. It is just as I read the article and looked at the picture, I thought to myself if Stu would still be here with us if he were standing along the left side of the trailer that was stopped in front of him.

Again, Stu....Rest in Peace brother.

Re: Stu T Davis??!

I was watching the videos on one of the newsites about the accident, and they were interviewing the family members of the people on the tour bus that hit Stu. They were coming back from a family reunion. I was truly pissed how they were talking about that they were so happy and thanking god no one was hurt in the accident. Yeah, right...

Selfish mindless bastards... Typical I guess...

Yeah that pissed me off also John. The fukking articles mention the **** that killed Stu and himself more than Stu being completely helpless and killed by the neglegence of the bus driver. It doesn't mention anything of how Stu left family behind that had to deal with this or anything like that.

Re: Stu T Davis??!

Yeah, they sure didn't say much about him. Just the people who were not injured really, and those people only cared about themselves.

This has brought so many odd emotions. From being enraged at their remarks, to the fact that we are so isolated from what happened, yet to vividly see it in color on the net from far away.

It's a weird horrid feeling to lose him. I feel as though I knew him personally like a neighbor. Well, I talked to him enough and for quite some time now I guess, but never met face to face. Yet it feel as if I've lost a close friend. Which basically, I certainly have. And to see it all unfold from a distance on the internet, and not really being able to do anything or get closure seems so strange. I guess just feelings I haven't encountered before, that's all.

Sort of not real or personal, yet all too real and personal.

I feel so bad for his wife. Her very serious health problems are bad enough. But to find someone cool to love you like Stu, and to lose him like that and be left alone to face all this is just more painful for her than I could imagine.

It just sucks....

I know what you mean. My GMW Beast is going to be done in October. Like btx109 Stu was the contributing factor to some of the options and me ordering from them to begin with. He was supposed to get first dibs on the pics since he helped me out. It's going to have a GMW logo that he designed and has on the Root Beer Scythe they made him. He seemed as excited about it as I did. Just like Glenn mentioned. I pretty much justed talked guitars with Stu and didn't know him as well as Glenn. But part of me is pretty bummed that he's not around to see the finished guitar. Been a year plus since I ordered it and I talked to Lee a few weeks back when he started it. I was thinking I would be emailing Stu the pics finally. Then I saw Glenn's post on the MCS forum. A forum that Stu and Venomboy both turned me on to. Pretty screwed up. The pic of that bus and the tractor trailer was the first site I came to when I was looking for news in his area. I was kind of holding out hope that I wouldn't find anything. When I saw that it just kind of hit like a ton of bricks. Definitely some ties there to folks you never meet face to face but chat with in the forums. I wish his family the best. The sad part is if he just got to stay in Cali where he wanted none of this would have happened.

money problems sure can break a heart unfortunately. bad things happen to great people and stu seems well loved here.
what a man though, to leave the place he loved for the better of he and his family. money pisses me off sometimes.
i'm gonna light a candle tomorrow night in huntington beach for him.
