yeah, mick's rather good. his ego's just as big as he is, however. and i dunno, rick rubin thinks they're one of the best bands out there, so who knows.

Those fender tele flatheads ARE the premier shredder tele. they come loaded with EMG 81's (or an 81 and a 60, don't remember) all i know is, they kick ass. i think jim might be with fender for awhile, he seems to like them, and vice-versa. he's the only major player endorsing those flatheads.

and meegs' rich teles were sweet too. the archtops with the single hum. i think they also either had a boost switch or a coil tap.

Jim had a Celtic series Tele (celtic knotwork inlay on the 12th fret), and I can't remember if those originally came loaded with EMGs or not, but I saw kind of a close-up pic of he and Mick where it looked like the EMG logo on their neck pups were gray, so that would be a 60. It looked like a silver logo on the bridge pups, which would be an 81.

There's also the Blackout series with two humbuckers, no inlays at all on the rosewood board, and I think the pups were Duncans. I think there's also a couple newer old-school looking Teles with dual humbuckers. I'm not sure of the vintage looking models, but I believe all the other ones have a flatter fingerboard radius perfect for metal!

In the early 70's Fender made the Telecaster Deluxe, which was a Dual humbucker Telecaster with Strat head and flatter radius neck.

They actually reissued it. I noticed it in the MF catalog... it's a '72 Telecaster Deluxe, Strat head, two humbuckers with two volume and two tone controls, toggle switch on top like it would be on a Les Paul. Looks pretty cool to me, except for the strange pickguard.
