Scorps, Tesla, Maiden, G&R, Dokken, Ratt, Journey, Def Leppard, Queensryche, Kiss, etc.. The name of my band is Finster. It will be a shredfest. Hope to see SOMEBODY there!

John,
Sounds like you guys have the same taste in music as we do. Not too many of us bands who will play this kinda music in clubs and bars. Wish I could be there to see your show.
The way I see it, if you play the heavy stuff like Maiden, Ratt, Dokken, etc really well and do it accurately with a high energy presentation, even the lamest audience will start to react positively. Rock it hard bro'!

We did it for years around cleveland, and the crowds really changed. From 150 showing up to 30 after 9/11.

We did very heavy stuff. Dio, Sabbath, Slayer, Savatage, Iron Maiden, Metal Church, Old Metallica, Megadeth, etc

Wish it were more worth doing here.

I am not sure how we will go over. I have a bad feeling about it actually. Although we sound great I am not sure how many people in the woods up in Colchester are into hearing an 80's metal tribute band. I didn't pick any of the songs but I do like playing most of them. In any case, if the crowd sucks (or if there is no crowd) Dave and I are going to turn the gig into a shredfest and go out in a blaze of glory. We are really good at creating our own mayhem.

Oh man, I wish I could be there, that's the same material I've lined up for my new 80's metal band tribute project.

Re: jgcable gig alert

JG, I think it will go better than you think. The music yer playing is making a comeback. I recently started a band after having a four year break from playing guitar at all ( I bought my own bar). Calling ourselves VanOsbourne all we play is... you guessed it Ozzy & Van Halen (no sammy ****). And let me tell ya, to go from four 30 something guys just getting together to have a few beers and keep our chops up, not even thinking of really playing anywhere, the name of our band started as a joke (we're playing so much Ozzy & Van Halen we should call ourselves VanOsbourne), we were the ones gettin the phone calls from the clubs. Usually its the other way around. We've played two gigs so far, and we are not ready to play anyplace yet really (I've had to learn 2 Ozzy & 3 Van Halen albums in the last two months, 90% of I've never played before). The two gigs we did play went over great, way more than I expected. People are ready to hear the good stuff again. I think your gig will go well, besides its pretty hard not to have a good time playing what you have lined up.

I hope to be there bro! Don't sweat it. I think there is a big demand for 80's metal bands. You'd be surprised.
Give em hell and don't look back!

John, how did it go? Hope you guys had a blast. Also, I was following your Vetta thread in the amps section & was curious about how everything went with your tweak-happy bandmate.
