I also remember Gibson's, Grant's and TG&Y discount stores all being driven under by K-Mart, which then lost a lot of stores to Wal-Mart. Competition does that, eliminates the less-fit. It's economic Darwinism. I liked all those old stores, but nothing lasts forever.

Kevin Easton has a nice big rant on his website regarding evil conglomerates and stuff, and I finally realized what it meant when I watched that hilarious www.jibjab.com thing where the Native dude gets surrounded by the big companies. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] However, I can't resist the low prices that these massive heartless empires offer (except when it comes to guitar gear), so places like Wal-Mart are handy.
