I had endoscopic surgery yesterday to remove a rather large kidney stone. I am now in more pain than I was beforehand. Yesterday all I did was pee blood, very painfully at that. Today there is less blood, but more pain. Enough pain that 2 vicodin don't touch it. Damn this hurts. Thanks for listening

Re: Too much information...
Hang in there man... It will pass eventually. I remember several years ago I was involved in an undercover drug bust and got my head split open by 4 gangmembers... I had to have plastic surgery to get my forehead to look halfway decent. That was the worst night of my life! Talk about pain! That hurt ten times worse than when I got shot in the leg...

Re: Too much information...
We are all wired differently, but to me there are many kinds of pain. I also find that the body seems to limit what you feel. When I smashed myself up in a car accident, completely shattering both ankles, right femur, cheeckbone and nose plus some cracked ribs, the pain was bad, but gall bladder attacks and a 3rd degree burn all over my back and shoulders each felt worse than when I was all busted up.
By the way, if you ever shatter a leg at the ankle and femur, take a look at it when they cut your clothes off, Nothing like watching your leg try to bend in two unnatural directions!
Anyhow, back to the topic. Chances are you just felt the worst pain you will ever feel. You can rest a little easier in life knowing it probably doesn't get much worse.

Re: Too much information...
I was gunned down in the middle of the street in Curacoa (near Aruba). Well lets just say endoscopic surgery had not reached them yet. I have a 14 inch scar on my stomach where they did "exploretory surgery" to find the bullets. They did'nt find any. They never gave anything for the pain from the surgery when I came to. I lost conciousness more times than I can count because of the pain. Getting shot did'nt hurt, it really did'nt. It was the fuggin' surgery that kicked my ass. Ofcourse two days later the nurses came to give me my "bath". When they went to turn me over they noticed that the sheets were stuck to me. That when they realized that the bullets went through my back. I had been bleeding for two days out the holes in my back. When they told me I said " Oh, is that what I've been itching". They never even turned me over to check before they did the surgery. It was needless. Needless and quite painfull.
Anyway I hear people tell me all time how lucky I was. All I can think is that if I was so lucky the a$$hoe would have missed.
I'd still rather get shot than have my ankles shattered.

Jimmy, VanOsbourse, bros, I was cringing and tearing up like an son-of-a-bitch while reading all that. I'll make sure to never complain about pain ever again. I wish there was a "painedLOL" smiley. A grimace, perhaps?
Back to the topic, my dad had kidney stones, and he wasn't happy, I tell you what. He passed all of his, IIRC. Here's hoping ya get better, etaeniura!

Re: Too much information...
Well if we're going THERE...
12 gauge shotgun, left hip + femur. Doctor said because of the proximity, the muscle / bone tissue had "liquified."
BUT etaeniura, Jim, and VO, I don't remember a lot about it or the 7 or eight surgeries. There were plenty of drugs, and the brain has blanked lots of the rest.
So, etaeniura, hope you're feeling better soon, Jim - I know they cut off my clothes, but I don't remember much, and VO, they KNEW where to cut and had lots of drugs.
Man, we're some sick SOBs sometimes. Thank goodness for guitars.

Re: Too much information...
No doubt Ax, WTF?
As for Vicodins, I take 4 7.5's every morning for my back, I go get some Oxycottons or something man, those Vic's don't do much for sever pain.
Best of luck and hope you get to feeling better! At least they didn't make you pass them naturally!

Re: Too much information...
Most painful thing I went through was having 2 pins removed from my wrist after dislocating all 4 metacarpals in my right hand. The surgeon didn't use any antisetic. The pins were only about 4 inches long but he used pliars to pull them out and twisted nice and slow. Afterward, the Vicodin didn't really take away the pain, I just didn't care that my hand hurt.
By the way, sorry about your "little guy." I feel for you man.
