Computer speaker recommendations?

I think my computer's subwoofer is dead, seeing as how I'm only getting hum from it while my sattelite speakers are still working fine. Oh well, I've had these speakers for about five years now, so they've been faithful and have done their job.

So, I need new speakers. Not just any computer speakers, but GOOD ones. Ones that are suitable for computer audio recording purposes as well as multimedia. I don't need a fancy 5.1 surround system. In fact, I love the current 2.1 setup (two sattelites, one subwoofer) I have now. I need a good quality 2.1 setup where the satellites are small enough to fit under my desk shelves, and the woofer must be slim enough so that it won't crowd my monitor. Also, please mention a store (Best Buy, Future Shop, online, or otherwise) where I can buy them, and list the prices. Thanks!

Mother of crap, that woofer is huge. There probably wouldn't be room for it on my desk. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Does that company make a similar set except with a slimmer woofer? I don't need massive bass. My current woofer kicks out MORE than enough bass.

Screw cpu crap Bro, Hook your entire house system to it. I just run a rca cord from my cpu to my reciver in it's dvd jacks and I have the whole neiberhood rockin'

I heard there are good quality speakers that you can use as home studio monitors that have flat response to them. I wouldn't mind having those, but I haven't done any recording in ages, and that's miniscule compared to the amount of sound/music I play on my computer. Perhaps good multimedia speakers are a better choice.

That little Klipsch speaker package actually sounds awesome and I normally hate Klipsch speakers. JBL just released a cool little speaker system that matches Ipods (white) that sounds pretty good for $99.95 retail. And Harman Kardon just released one that goes for $199.95 but they wont fit under your shelves. Hope this helps...

Great but strange news! My subwoofer came back to life! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] My mom was vacuuming the house, and when she turned the vacuum cleaner off, I heard a little static coming from the woofer. I played an MP3 and all that rich bass came back! [img]/images/graemlins/eek.gif[/img]
