          Find this program by using the START menu and click it to launch it:


          Inside the "Paint" program, "Open" the file (your picture). Then select "Save as"... like this:


          Picture is now reduced in byte size only and that's what you want.

              I have no idea why MSPaint compresses pictures like that. It's damn annoying. My vidcaps and screenshots turn out fuzzy. [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] So now in Paint, I save them as massive BMP files and then use my photo software to convert them to JPG. I end up getting a reduced filesize and the amount of compression I specify (typically 21% keeps picture quality still looking sharp but the filesize down).

                I use Photoshop for almost everything graphics related. Reason why i suggested Paint is that it's installed with a default WinXP installation and does the jpeg compression OK.
