[ QUOTE ]
I'm not pro-kerry or anything but c'mon Bush? We have not had a President this stupid since Ford. I wish I could vote for McCain. And BTW I am a veteran and as I see it Bush was nice cozy here in america, when Kerry, like it or not, was getting shot at. Kerry did his duty, while bush filed waivers. I can't believe how many of my military friends are pro-bush. He's the one getting them killed. I've got alot of my firends over there right now, some have come back. Not one of them believe this war is a good thing. But they did thier duty anyway. I would rather have someone as President thats "been there done that". Than have one that ran and hid. A guy like McCain would have made sure it was the right thing to do before he sent our kids over there to die. I think Kerry will do the same. Bush was too eager to go to war. We did'nt stop terrorism in Iraq, we created a terrorist state. The only way to correct it is to get really really fuggin dirty over there. Neither Bush or Kerry will do that. Just watch as this thing drags on for another ten years. How many guys have to lose limbs or die before we get the fuk outta there.

[/ QUOTE ]

Bro, I might be mistaken so please correct me if I am wrong. Wasn't Kerry about to be drafted and only then did he join as an officer. And didn't he serve his first year in a relatively safe position away from action? Then when he HAD to serve in the conflict, got treated for 3 superficial wounds, pretty much self inflicted, to earn his precious 3 Purple Hearts? Didn't he use the little known "thrice injured" clause to secure his departure from Vietnam after 4 months while the rest of his buddies were still there in the sh1t? Didn't he come back to the states and bash the living fukk out of every one of the vets that made REAL sacrifices in Vietnam?
You can vote for this ass clown, but I am sure that Bush will be re-elected. Don't hate Bush because he didn't go to Nam, Kerry DIDN'T want to go either, and he proved it by getting 3 scratches and making damn sure he got out of there in one piece.

Re: Poll: How are you voting this year?

Well, first of all, Kerry's military service is subject to some serious questions. Just because those question raisers are GOP-supported doesn't mean their concerns might not be true. His crewmen support him, sure. They were in on his exploits, perhaps accomplices. We don't know for sure, but we DO know Kerry repudiated his service when he returned home, but now wraps himself in it when he thinks he can become President thereby.Second, if you bash Bush as "not having served" because he was in the National Guard, you're insulting all who serve as Guardsmen or reservists. A lot of those people are among the Iraq dead, so you might want to think about that. Bush DID serve, he just didn't go to Vietnam. So did many other people who don't deserve the backhand you aim at Bush by claiming National Guard isn't service.

Re: Poll: How are you voting this year?

My god guys I'm not "praising" kerry here. I'm looking at this objectively. No way am I bashing anybody who is national guard. Dont twist my words to fit your perception. Bush requested, by filing waivers not to fukin go. Gimme a break. Its not the same as some private slingin **** who's over there now. You really buy into this BS dont ya. If I gotta go over there some rich kid has to go too. Plain and simple. They are both dirty fukin rats. I just have a hard time when people tend to buy into one of these guys BS. Either side. Doesnt matter. They both have thier share of lies. But somebody picks one and defends them to the end. Bush could have committed murder and I would hear an excuse for it right here in this forum. Take a step back. Look at it objectively. If you dont believe that George SR. did'nt pull some strings to "w" out of Vietnam your dillusional. SR. was a pilot in a war and got shot down, he knew better than to send his son to one. I'm not going to defend Kerry's actions after the war. All I'm sure of is he did'nt get a Purple Heart because he broke a nail getting into his cockpit stateside. Again I'm not pro-Kerry here. Hell, I've voted republican in every election since I was old enough to vote. I hate Michael Moore. It bothers me when guys like Moore have a conclusion, and then select the facts to support it. Just like when someone twists your words to discredit you views. I was in the army, I've had friends that died in Grenada, Panama, and Iraq. I was bashing ONE guardsmen. Not the Nationl Guard. When its your brother, father, or friend dying over there you might question WHY. So sit there and wave you patiotic flag, while you sit and judge my opinion. I've EARNED the right to wave it. I dont care what Kerry did to get out of the war, it does'nt justify what Bush did, and vice-versa for the Kerry supporters. I dont buy what either one of these guys spew outta thier mouths. But I find it funny that if I dont agree with the pro-bush people I get bashed. When it hits close enough to home. when you start seeing people missing limbs. When they are people you care about, come back and tell me how many good things we are doing over there. I supported this war just like most people. I quickly realized it will go no where. I support the troops and all military personal that dont duck thier duty. I support more than most people. And alot more than anyone bashing me for my opinions. How many care packages have you organized to send over there? We have to have the resolve to get fuggin dirty over there. They wont let us. Its turning into a real pile of **** over there. If its such a patriotic cause, if your such a believer, put your money where your mouth is, sign up and fukin go. Then come back and tell me how wrong I am.

Oh, and the next time you see a serviceman missing an eye or an arm, don't turn away, Take a good fuggin look, and then go up to them and thank em for "giving" for our country's cause. See what they say.

Re: Poll: How are you voting this year?

well, i know better than to post in the political threads, but oh well, here i go. go ahead and call me a liberal pussy or whatever, i don't really care; i'm not trying to pick fights with anything that will follow. if you take offense to any of this below, you're probably late for an abortion clinic bombing. oke:

i don't care about someone's war record, i don't care if a president gets blown in his office (i actually want a guy in office that gets blown regularly)i DO care if the person that runs our country can't pronounce the word "nuclear" and yes, i do believe to a certain extent that the president uses the war to his advantage, but then again, none of us will ever know the truth.

that being said, i firmly believe that both of the prominent candidates are unfit for the job, and i think that it's really sad that the other parties don't really have a shot at ever being elected into office. i think that it's a shame that if you vote for nader, or many of the other smaller parties, you're throwing your vote away. i'm sure that our current president loves that. i'm also sure that john kerry loves that because those that know that will go the lesser of two evils and more than likely vote for him.

i'm sure we'd all agree that over the years, we've lost more and more freedoms in this country. here's a great example: go watch blazing saddles and imagine what would happen if it were a new movie, released today. granted, a lot has happened to our culture since then, but it's interesting to see. before you pick up the "PC/liberal media" copout flag, be sure to point the other gun barrel at the republican religious right/moral majority. i think that it's sad that religion and what's called morality has such a huge impact on our country; it keeps us in the dark, imo. i'm not saying that religion is bad, just that it has no place in government because it clouds the ability to make completely informed, fact-based decisions when running a country. one needs the ability to do that when charged with such a task.

that said, i will not support a president who is against stem-cell research, who is interested in abolishing abortion, who actually gives a damn if two guys named steve get married to each other, and can't pronounce nuclear. yes, i'm stuck on that, and i don't care; a world leader should not sound similar to larry the cable guy. the whole war on terrorism (and "tear-wrists" as our prez likes to call 'em)is the new war on drugs; catchphrases and smoke and mirrors. no, i'm not saying that there isn't a threat, but i believe it's not as much of a threat as the government would like you to believe. again, just an opinion. when has the terror meter or whatever it is impacted your life? it hasn't. just say no, anyone?

however, in all fairness....

kerry's pretty much a weenie.

i think that's the best way to describe him; he reminds me of an uncooked oscar mayer weiner. i didn't get a chance to know much about dean, because the press buried him for reasons i can't see. (liberal media? yeah, whatever) from what i saw, he kinda spazzed out in a speech, and that was it for him. it seems to me that he was passionate about what he was talking about at the time... hm, yeah, we definitely need to get ridda' THAT guy!

so, what's a guy to do? nader? he'd probably do a better job, but i don't know much about the guy other than the fact that he's for the decriminalization of marijuana. why is that all i know? because the smaller parties don't get the attention they should. and yes, i could go ahead and research these people. but y'know what? i'm an american; i shouldn't have to put forth effort!

there's a taoist saying i saw once that goes something to the extent of "those that seek political office are the least qualified to do it." i think that's true.

anyway...who i'm voting for isn't half as important as the fact that i feel that my vote won't help get the right person in office.

and that, ladies and gentlemen, sucks.

VanOsbourne and Sully just wrote two of the most intelligent and well-thought-out posts that I've read in a long time in this section of the board. This is the first year I am eligible to vote and I plan on making the most of it from here on out.

Is that actually a word ???

What I'm trying to say is, I just don't like them both really at this point. In 2000 I voted for Bush, since I have a real hatred for Gore. But I think If clinton were able to run I'd vote for him. out of the 4 presidents in my life Regan and clinton are the only 2 that actually did something for theire country. Both Bush's have been kinda lame asses.

You know what chaps me the most? It's the fact that we're just a couple of months from an important election and what are the Democrats and Republicans doing? Arguing about Kerry's freaking war record, that's what!

"Uh, that thar Kerry's a hee-row"
"Naw, he ain't!"
"He shore is!"
"Ain't, neither!"

WHO CARES???!!

In my opinion, military service should have absolutely NOTHING to do with whether someone is fit or unfit to be the president. Nothing. And I'm speaking as an 8-year vet. The only thing that should matter is how well he upholds the U.S. Constitution. Nothing more, nothing less.

Bush and Kerry have both proven to have agendas that are NOT in the best interests of the American people.

You know I got to meet some of these guys during the 2000 election ..

I had to assist escorting The Bush who was the most "down to earth" he liked my mohawk..very outgoing indeed.

Gore was a tool ...stiff as a board and way too serious ..and when he smiled or laugh it appeared "forced"...

Lieberman was cool as hell ...but he could stop holding my hand and shut up ..I had to make eye contact with that man for two minutes while he was talking to me (that's a very long time)..he talks to everybody ...he's like to talk.

John McCain seemed to be the most "genuine" ...he was just a very cool likable guy ...next to the Bush..

Bradley was the worst ...a dufuss ...that's all I could say ...a big "dufuss" ..worse than Kerry or Gore it seems..he's got a huge cranium..

and ex - Cleveland Mayor Dennis Kucinich is Cleveland's embarassment...he's a geek!!

Well that sums it up I guess...there you go..

Of all these guys I would hang with at a Metal show ...I guess that would be the Bush ...he'd be the first one in the Mosh pit!!

That's the Middle East...one big Mosh Pit ..or is that Arm Pit ....could be both ..

They say that they may try and legalize the refer ....Alaska would be the first state ...because they're just eskimos that live in igloos and whatnot ...

I'm moving to Alaska ...and my igloo will have a Glory Hole...for for passerby female eskimos with chubby asses..!!!

Van Osbourne, I didn't twist your words, I just stated how they came across to me. It might be that others would also take them to mean that people who served in the National Guard during Vietnam were cowards who didn't serve their country. If that's not what you meant, fine, but maybe look at what you wrote as if you were someone else reading it, then think about it.

I didn't serve in the military due to congenital medical comditions, but my father served in WWII as well as Korea, and into the Vietnam era, though he served Stateside at that time. If you really feel that only the soldiers have a right to wave the flag and say what they think, then you don't understand what the United States of America stands for.

I know Dubya's dad pulled strings, but he probably could have avoided any type of service whatsoever if he'd wanted to. He's no
Rhodes scholar, but he probably could have kept a student deferment for the duration had he desired.

You think Kerry's the lesser of 2 evils; I think Bush is the lesser. Neither of us is crazy about either of them, but to me Kerry is worse, and it's best to keep the same guy in charge during wartime. Kerry labeled his fellow vets war criminals when it suited him, and now he drapes himself in the flag as a vet. I find that hypocritical.

Much, much smaller government, as the Constitution dictates
Less (if any) taxes
