We made the trek across the country successfully. Here's a quick timeline:
<ul type="square">[*]My mother flew out to Washington on 8/5 to help us out. [*]My mother flew to Virginia with our two children on the 8th. [*]The packers came on 9th and 10th [*]The moving truck came on 11th and hauled our stuff away (with most of my guitars - needless to say I was nervous). [*]We painted a few rooms and shampooed the carpets on the evening of the 11th and morning of the 12th [*]We left Issaquah, Washington on the afternoon of the 12th with 4 guitars, a bunch of Rubber Maid Totes full of stuff, 1 dog, 2 hamsters, and 2 frogs. [*]We made it to Montana by late in the evening of the 12th - unfortunately we left too late to stop off at Music Machine in Kennewick, WA [*]On the 13th we drove through Montano and made it to Yellowstone in time to enjoy a spectacular drive [*]On the 14th we made it South Dakota in time to pass through Sturgis on the last day of the biker meet and enjoy a lot of Harley's. We went to Mount Rushmore which was awesome. [*]On the 15th we got through South Dakota, Minnesota, Idaho, Illinois, and into Indiana. [*]On the 16th we made it to Dresden, OH so my wife could check out the Longaberger Homestead (Longabergers are very famous high quality and collectible baskets). It was too late for her to do everything she wanted so we decided to stay there that night. [*]On the 17th we went back to the Longaberger place and we took a tour of the factory and my wife got to make a basket. [*]We left Dresden in the early afternoon and made it to Northern Virginia in time for us to eat a late dinner at one of our favorite restaurants and then we went to over to my mother's and surprised everyone - the plan was that they'd drive down to NC once we were there. The kids were thrilled to see us and we had a nice time. [*]On the 18th we just hung out in Virginia with friends and family. [*]On the 19th we drove down to NC and met our realtor to do a final walk through of our new house before closing. [*]On the 20th we closed on our new house here in NC. [*]On the 21st the moving truck came and dumped our stuff - my guitars were all in tact - whoohoo! My mother, father, and mother-in-law came down with our kids. [*]On the 22nd we were cleaning and unpacking. [*]On the 23rd I started my new job. [/list]
It's been a busy two weeks.
