Re: RIP SRV 8/27

A month back i bought the DVD "Live from Austin, Texas". I have never seen him live and never ever seen him on TV. This is the day i will watch the DVD. I saved it for today.

RIP Stevie, alongside with Rory Gallagher you are my main influence in blues guitar.

i was at his last show. my sister and i went, it was a good show to say the least. i didn't hear about the crash until later that morning. i was workin at a record store, and my mgr said that we were probably gonna run out of srv discs pretty fast. i said, yeah, that was a great show! he then told me the news, and i still have the obit from the paper.

i wish i had the chance to see him live. The man just breaths the blues. I saw a dvd from him, the first time i heard from him. Completely blew me away, and that means a lot since I mostly have to listen alot to something before i can really really enjoy it. RIP

Portland, Oregon was a blues hotbed back in the '80s-early '90s, and I had a zillion opportunities to see SRV play live...and I passed up every one of them.

He wasn't a guitar player--he was a force of nature. RIP.

I was in line to buy tickets to SRV in Lubbock when the line disbursed. I was like "WTF?" and then it was announced that he had been killed. Even though I still lean heavily on the technical stuff, you have to appreciate SRV as probably the best blues guitarist ever.

yeah, that was the bill, chris! admittedly, i wasn't too up for clapton/cray. stevie smoked like a crackhead on welfare check day, though.

                    fong, i don't have a scanner. sorry.
