Warning: Cat story!
A year ago my gf and i moved house and after about 6 months in this new town, my gf saw two cats fighting outside our house and she made them stop and the one cat ran. The other one, a little grey & black one with a short tail stayed and she called him. Without hesitation he walked right up to our doorstep and started talking to us and bumping his little head into our legs and every other part of us he could reach.
From that day on he was at our house from early in the morning to late at night. Every time i was outside, fixing stuff like my Fernandes Rhoads guitar (No Turning Back thread) he would be around, playing and speaking with me, laying on the guitar or my worktop. Pure love. The best thing he knew was laying directly on my chest, with his face very close to mine, purring like mad. Of course i had to touch him and caress him - that was the deal.
When we got home from work or visits, we could hardly open the car door before he was all over us and then sprinting to the house front door so he could follow us inside. We didn't feed him because we wanted him to return to his family for food at least, so they wouldn't get too upset ("where's our cat?!"). We didn't know where he came from but we often considered walking the neighbourhood, knocking on every door until we found the owners. We never came around to actually doing it. We came to love him and he loved being with us. I've known a few cats and "Little Martin" was the best. He was always in a good mood, playful, and ALWAYS bumping his head into us out of love. It worked - he ate his food at home and spend the rest of the time at our house.
One day, four weeks ago he stopped coming and we haven't seen him since. A lot of things could have happened, but i don't think anybody moved house around here. I gave it 3-4 weeks for him to return and by now i think it's over. We live nearby a large trafficated road + a railroad and my guess is he's been run over or died from something he ate. He was a good hunter and proudly showed us lots of preys like birds and mice he had caught, and many cats die from eating poisoned or sick animals. He was also a very nosy fellow, so as i said, lots of things can have happened.
Man, my gf and i are very sad but that's life. Take care little dude. You gave us some invaluable moments of true love and fun.
