Don't you just hate it - memory card DOA!

D'oh - ordered a 128MB Smart-Media card for my new Zoom 707-II so I can sample entire tracks etc. Came in the post today from 7Dayshop.com and it is dead!!! Infuriating!

Yeah i know how that feels. I think Smart-Media (and other types) are somewhat fragile. I've ruined two Smart-Media cards so far in my card reader for no reason. I even changed reader and it killed the second one. Maybe a bad batch, i don't know.

I've had 2 smart-media memory cards **** the bed, both without any handling etc. Just sitting, being used in a digital camera.
Tried to upload photos and hey, no reading.

A (funny) note on these memory cards:

My parents bought a used card from a professional photographer. He formatted the card in his camera before shipping it to my parents. I installed the card in their camera and there was no problems. The card was empty and ready. Then some day when i was helping my father download some pictures from the camera to his PC, a whole batch of unknown pictures emerged on the card. WTF?! About 35 images we had no idea where they came from. Some pretty strange ones as well. First, i didn't believe my dads denial [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] but we eventually found out, that the pictures belonged to the previous card owner. After a format of the card in my dads camera, they have never emerged again. But that's weird as hell!

Just a warning to all you porno photo guys who sell your media cards to upgrade. Don't sell to someone you know! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
