I just bought them today because my previous subwoofer died again. Yes, AGAIN. Those of you who read my previous thread recently know that I've been having trouble with it. I wanted a speaker set that was great quality yet small in size for my desk. So, I bought the Bose Media Mate set pictured above. I didn't really care about what price I paid since I demoed the speakers in the store and I was that impressed with them.
Bose has always been known for vivid enormous sound and that promise was met. You can see how small these things are in the first above picture, but they totally floor you. I was surprised at how much clean bass these things kick out, and they're much smaller than my previous subwoofer. Good enough for my bedroom computer... perhaps even a little overkill. They're also angled for better projection so they blast you directly, much like stage monitors or an exaggerated slant-cab.
The coolest thing about this set is that you can hook up a secondary input device like a stereo system or CD player or whatever along with the primary input from your computer (1/8 inch jack or RCA into the speakers' RCA), and blend the two inputs using the "Mix" control. The speakers stay ON all the time, so your computer doesn't have to be on if you are using a stereo or CD player as your secondary RCA input.
So, if you're looking for a set of speakers that won't take up valuable real estate on your desk and want phenomenal large lifelike sound, these speakers might be for you.
