Smells like chocolate...

Have finally managed to figure out the smell....ny new KE2 smells like chocolate. It is getting less and less but the first time I opened the case there it was - chocolate. Guess the Jackson factory must smell nice....

A one off or did your new axe's smell?

Try to open the back panel and see maybe there is a chocolate inside.

I had a silver sparkle 750XL that smelled like chocolate too ...

I used to love to open that case...smelled like coa-coa mix or somethin'... [img]/images/graemlins/drool2.gif[/img]

I sh!t you not ...I haven't thought of that guitar in years ..not until you mentioned it .

I was a strong scent of coa-coa powder ..like smelling inside a can of Nestle's Quick or somethin'..

I can smell it now just thinkin' about it...

Funny you say that. I just picked up a Hamer Artist yesterday and I had to get an SKB case for it. When I got home and pulled it out, it smelled like chocolate. Something with the case.

Bill, no chance you still have that 750xl is there?

hmmm - so definately the case....anyone know anyone that works at Jackson that can ask if their case making department either smells of choloclate or some of hteir workers are a little too over-indulgent?

[img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] My two Jackson's SKB hardshell cases are pleasant-smelling as well, although not chocolate... just a fresh smell, like it was sprayed with deodorizer like FeBreze or something. However, one of my acoustic's softshell cases smells like rotten cheese. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] One of my buddies has the same guitar and same case and his case smells like cheese too. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

No that was a nice Geetar tho..it had a bounded neck , artch top , neck thru , reverse sharkfin inlays and had a real heavy silver flake ..SUPER heavy flake!

and it smelled like chocolate ..

I traded that even for some dudes mint Mesa Boggie mark III head...that I since traded off as well...

Dude I wish I did still have it ...damn thing was beautiful really..

There is plenty of stuff that I wish I still had but I wouldn't trade any of it for what I got...so that's good..

wish I had that axe though ...

Hi Fender,

A quick question. I recently bought a KE2 and it came, of course, in a hard case.
However, upon opening the case it smells strongly of chocolate, or chocolate powder (a la Nesquick).

Having talked to a few other Jackson USA owners I finid that one or two of them have the same thing.

Is this something to do with the glue used in the case? I would like to know as my entire room now smells of chocolate and I am worried that it may be a harmful solvent or something?

That reminds me of a friend of mine who wrote the maker of his favorite brand of toilet paper because they did away with the cushy ripples. I felt sorry for his brown eye.

Thank you for your message.

I’m not surprised to hear that your case has a funny smell. I must confess that I too have a couple of guitars with similar smell. One like yours and one other model which smells like plastocene (I think that is how it was spelt.)

It is, in fact, precisely because so many solvent and other based glues are no longer permitted that we get this kind of thing. Almost all glues are water based and have long drying times. They all have been know to have strange odors, usually for only a few weeks when new, but one of mine lasted many months.

I hope it is not too inconvenient.
