Last year was the first year Mr LPC had a true "southern Christmas"....he was actually speechless most of the time....we went to my moms moms first, and there was oh...a ruff estimate would say about 45 people there...and thats just family....the kitchen is so full of food, you cant sit at the table and eat...you gotta fix a plate and pull up some floor somewhere to eat....its so fun making the kids wait until 8pm (Christmas Eve) to open everything up....it wasnt fun when I was a kid, but now watching Jamey and Mer (Meredith) all anxious....it was priceless....

Oh Em, I will take some pics and post them IF I get to do my house the way I used to...maybe it will give ya some Christmas Spirit...

Theres a few houses a couple of streets down that still have lights out....those dangly icicle lights that stick out like a sore thumb....theres another house across town that have a yard full of Christmas decorations...and they leave it out year round, I think they do that so they dont have to put it back out again (tacky **** too....) I guess if I didnt care what others thought I would do the same...

Yes, maybe they will help. I suppose I could do something real Christmasy this year, but I doubt it would make Martha Stewart proud.
Growing up Mama always did a great job with Christmas and decorating and all. The FOOD. Holy Hell. What good FOOD!
I do cook like a madwoman though. But decorating... well... the Nightmare Before Christmas Nativity is usually not a big hit with the Christian neighbors.
Other than that I dunno what the whole deal with Christmas is- but then people say that about Halloween too. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Christmas lights. Now there is a wonderful thing. I like the colorful ones. The boring white icicle lights are boring. I just said that.
I've got rainbow icicle lights!! Those are way cooler.
The folks that go all out with the lights, now that is just something.
There are some Christmas lights up in the house right now (the outside ones go up right after Thanksgiving).
My kids have those boring white ones in their rooms. The black lights are in the studio. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]
In West Texas everyone has Christmas lights out all year 'round. Or maybe they're fiesta lights- I dunno. I see a lot of chili pepper and sombrero shaped ones.
I have ghost ones.

Oh and Krista... here... a Christmas loving girlfriend of mine loves this place. I got her a S'mores snowman ornament holding a flag (they're also military) for Christmas last year and she flipped out.

OH HOLY HELL....SMORES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a few smores things last year, and did a search on ebay earlier, and found a shitload of smores stuff!!! Dammit, payday is toooo far away!!!!!

Its up to Mr LPC whether I can decorate my house the way I normally do....I gotta buy a staplegun though....he doesnt like the idea of me having anything that I can hurt myself with....that means, nothing more powerful than a low temp gluegun....

I wish my damn prelit garland would ship...oh the insanity!!!

I KNEW you would be a smores freakette. I knew it. That is too funny. Okay. I admit, they are cute. Especially the fishing ones.
I was a Girl Scout leader when I lived in DE (I really was, honest. Don't laugh.) And at the GS shop where I bought all the girl's badges they had Girl Scout Smores!!
Man were they ever adorable, a little freaky, but adorable. If I had known what to do with them I would have bought them all.

I am very curious. How do you normally decorate that is so dangerous? You use some sort of wicked power tools or something? Low temp glue guns suck. I know.
I wish I lived closer. I think decorating with you would be hilarious.

I like both Helloween and Christmas, but the tree I prefer to be simple. My Mom always loads it up with tons of stuff - so much that you can barely see the tree [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
I'd just like something simple like white lights, maybe some gold balls (not mine, the tree's [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]), and some white bows at the top with long streamers wrapping and weaving down the tree. Maybe some of those white doves (fake, of course) with their wings spread spiraling up with a HUGE Million Candle-power rotating white/halogen Beam-Of-Heaven thing on the tip [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Or a rotating Eye Of God with a motion tracker that follows you around the tree [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
But nothing too fancy [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

For Shalloween I'd really like to do up a yard - fallen angels in the trees, half-buried in a fake flamepit (saw some neat FX lighting at Summer NAMM that looks like fire in the dark), maybe some fake-flaming corpses that sway and moan in agony [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
Maybe do the outside of the house up like a Frankenstein's Lab with the cracked/peeling wood sides, heavy iron door with a huge Gothic knocker (no, not a pierced white D-cup tit, Bill [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]), wildly angular window frames like you see in nightmares [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
But nothing fancy or overly dramatic (traumatic? [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img] )

Nothing like making kids traumatose on Halfoween [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I'd make it fun for adults as well - like Free Beer at the other end of a field of razorwire, or a walkway that was filled with burning rubbing alcohol and broken glass [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
