[ QUOTE ]
My wife told me a while back that I should stop smoking weed, drinking beer, wearing briefs, etc. Well, I have actually cut down on the weed, slightly cut down on the beer, and she bought me some of those boxer-brief things.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh man you should not even think about drinking or smoking (anything) when you are trying to conceive. Not only does it cut your little soldiers production count in severe cases you are looking at birth defects.

On our first child we had only been trying a short time and my wife was immediately convinced it'd never happen. We bought a puppy and she was pregnant the next cycle. You have to have something to focus on besides stressing about getting pregnant! Plus the puppy was good training for a baby!

Whatever your means, try not to stress and try and take as much of the burden off your wife as you can and good things will come.

As long as your boys are viable, the docs can do miracles. For 10 years we had unprotected sex. I wasn't ready for kids in my early 20s but if it happened cool if it didn't that was even better. Finally when I turned 30 I told the old lady I was ready, 2 days later I was filling up a cup. The test came back that I had a low count and they wanted to see me. Thanks to a foul ball (no pun intended)bouncing off of homeplate and shattering my cup in high school I only have one producing nut. But after checking the old lady out it seems as though she had kink in her plumbing which my boys couldn't get around.
We had to go the invitro route and it cost me all but one of my ESPs but I now have triplet 3 year olds thanks to it. Just keep your head up there is always hope.

Re: So..ahem.. anyone here ever had this problem?

Zeegler,
Laurie and I tried for 14 or 15 months and we were really worried 'cause we want to have a child in the worst way. We even scheduled an appointment with the infertility specialist for Sept 13th. Well, last week, Laurie was kinda crampy and went into her Ob-gyn. One blood test later she was pregnant. She came home early and surprised me and it was a very, very emotional moment (still is). We tried to do the deed every other day from like 9 days after her ragtime to 17 days after her ragtime thinking we'd hit the bullseye. I figured that since I'm 37 (although I regularly pass for my mid-20s) and my wife's 23 (yes, I am in fact, THE Mac Daddy!), that maybe my tadpole population had started to decline. But finally, it happened.
The hardest part of not getting pregnant quickly is when all of your friends are getting prego and telling you things like, "just relax, it'll happen" and stuff like that. You get mad, sad, frustrated, depressed, and worried. My little sister has tried for 5 years and even had 2 in vitro attempts which were unsuccessful. It breaks my heart to know that she probably won't be able to have biological children, especially being such a wonderful human being who, I think, deserves to be a mother. But my sister has been ultra-supportive of Laurie and I through our journey.
Not to get all mushy and **** but, there will come a point (he he, I said come, he he) where the trying to get pregnant begins to feel like a task rather than what it is supposed to be, a spontaneous, emotional union between husband and wife. Just remember that there are people who can understand how hard it is to watch others get pregnant while the people who aren't having it so easy struggle a bit. With Laurie and I, I truly believe that we BOTH figured that there was some physiological reason why we were not getting it done...either a prob with me or a prob with her. It got to the point where I stopped getting excited at the thought of Laurie pissin' on another stick because I already knew the answer. Then, out of the blue, it happened.
Now, at 5 weeks pregnant, we're both nervous wrecks. Laurie has had mild cramping and some spotting BUT, we've been to her OB lady Doc a couple times and we learned that 25% of all pregnancies have regualr spotting in the first trimester and the mild cramps are Laurie's digestive system to some degree and the embryo implanting as well. Laurie's hormone levels are shooting way up as they're supposed to and the Doc is very pleased with everything.
I won't tell you to "relax" or stop worrying about it and it'll happen because that's not what couples who are trying their butts off to get pregnant want to hear.
This is kinda an odd place to offer these kinds of info but what the hell. Zeeg, we don't know each other but if you want any info or research, feel free to email me. My sis is very well versed in all things regarding baby making. She's a fairly high profile air personality in the Inland Empire/Riverside, CA area and she would also be more than willing to send you material (while keeping things anonomous, of course).
I was very apprehensive about milking the dolphin into a cup, especially at a doc's office. I kept having thoughts about walking out of the little room and seeing a bunch of pregnant women sitting in a waiting room with little smirks on their faces because they knew what had just happened.
And Bill! If I had to hold my spunk for 2 weeks straight, I might injure someone when that firehouse went off! Over the hospital loudspeaker...."housekeeping, cleanup in reproductive health lab..." They would have had to throw down that superabsorbent stuff you put on oil spots on the driveway. Man mayonnaise EVERYWHERE!

I can say for a FACT that smoking weed, etc has nothing to do with sperm count or defects.....I have 4 perfectly normal kids and just got a sperm count of 85-90 million 2 weeks ago.I'm 34 btw.
I smoke weed everyday and have for more than 15 years,it's all a bunch of hype.My wifes doctor was kind of surprised to see that was the case, but then again she said noone really fesses up to her about it.
One thing that may help(ask your doctor) is taking vitamin C plus a multi-vitamin (its ok if it has C in it too,you cant overdose on it ) which helps make your uhm "goo" go even farther to shoot it home.

Thanks TM. All you guys are great. I guess at this point, I'm going to wait and see what my results are. Like someone already said, we have one kid already, so there can't be much wrong. I haven't suffered any grotesque groinal injuries since then.

I am inclined to agree. When my wife got pregnant the first time, I was still in college, and I was smoking weed like it was going outta style. Plus, I really don't think that me smoking weed can cause birth defects in a baby that my wife is carrying in her uterous. That just makes no sense.

I think most of it is the leftover fears that I heard throughout my teenage years...You'll get man-boobs (maybe from all the munchies yah) or you'll kill brain cells (some of the most intelligent people I know smoke more weed than me easily) or you'll turn gay (wait maybe that's not a legit one ) ....blah blah blah.....I've heard it all and none of it's true, except maybe the short-term memory thing WHEN you're high and that's pretty much a given.

But aside from that I have seen validity in keeping your sack cool, not FROZEN but cool,in other words; Let your nuts breathe, bring em out of the cage and let them hang awhile before trying to knock her up.Fan them, whatever it takes

Oh and one last thing I found out for me at least is bullshit and that's the whole wait 3 day or however long between ejaculations since it decreases the sperm count.B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T!

During the insemination phase my wife went through,I had to go in 3 days in a row and each day the amount was less (volume wise) but the sperm count was even higher! However the rawness factor gets rather high after all that cup action

But if worse comes to worse, just drill her good and hang her upside-down from the ceiling so not a drop gets wasted

To Bill and Zeegler about the boxer shorts... don't you feel liberated? I mean, I feel like I'm naked and roomy with boxers which is why they appeal to me. I used to wear briefs as a kid but I HATED the "cupping" that was holding my sack! God damn, I am SO glad I switched to boxers before I became a teenager.
