LeTekro is one of my all time fave ..I stole a lot from him.
Tore Otsby sounds alot like Ronnie in the Ark stuff ...solo wise.
I didn't buy the new TNT yet...but I must because I have all their stuff and been a fan since 84..
Their style grew a bit "syrupy" for my harsher metal taste these days but I always will be a TNT fan....more like a Letekro fan
Dude if you like TNT ...you must check out Magnus Karlsson of Last Tribe and Midnight Sun. I'm sure you will be impressed when with him....Last Tribe is more along the lines of TNT...Midnight Sun is more neo-classical but just recently they turned their style to more "Priest" like.
BTW LeTekro did a project with Jorne Lande (vocal god and Ark singer) called Vagabond...great stuff!

"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.
Degarmo is great but too bad his return didn't save the once mighty Queensryche from the toilet bowl....his playing on "tribe" was minimal and lame.

We may be talking about different things here. One thing is bring guitar to the masses - hence influence to play it; the other thing is influence other guitarplayers musically and stylistically
Well of course everyone has their own influences such as Page , Beck , SRV or whoever ..
but I would have to say that the three most influential people on electric guitar would be Hendrix , Ed and Yngwie and in that order.
And of course they were inflenced by other greats ..Ed was mostly inflenced by Clapton , Hendrix was influence by Muddy Waters and a few other old bluesmen and YJM took from Blackmoore and Uli.
Most of you're players today are from one of these three camps...or second genration of ..such as someone may have been inspired by Randy , Satch , Vai , Nuno , Gilbert , Petrucci , Lynch , Zakk and etc.. all were inspired mostly by Ed.
Maybe guys who love Eric Johnson , SRV , Uli , Blackmoore and etc...all those dudes were inspired mostly by Jimi.
Then you have all these neo classical players ...all from the Malmsteen school of shred...including Olaf Lenk , Grapow , Joe Stump , Gus G. and countless others.
Sure there is a lot of other important players such as Iommi (invented metal) , Page , Angus , Zappa and a mountain of others that played a huge role in making guitar what it is.
But the most important three IMO is Jimi , Ed , and Yngwie.
But we are not discussing most influential ...we're talkin' most "underarrated"
I think it's fair to say that someone who is amoung the ranks of MacAlpine , Greg Howe , Shawn Lane , Jason Becker , Paul Gilbert , Marty Freidman and goes virtually unnoticed for years sometimes decades is the MOST "Underrrated" .

I would put in Chris Imp. somewhere in your text, Bill. He deserves it.
And Tony Macalpine, man... together with Yngwie, he was the man who got me hooked on shredding the guitar with his album "Edge Of Insanity". Talk about underrated - have you seen and heard his work on Steve Vai's "Live at the Astoria, London"? Man...

I'd also like to add Marc Van Caelenberge to the list of underrated. He was a guitarist for the Belgium band Cross Fire. Due to legal problems, and poor distribution very few people actually got to hear him, but he was a great guitarist who should have been heralded during the 80s. In fact at one point those idiots in Belgium had their debut album on the banned list, and it was almost impossible to buy. Its available now, but 20 years later, I think he probobly has hung up the guitar by now........
hmmmm interesting accept2 , I have not heard Cross Fire...but I'll take your word for it.
