    Re: Most Influential Guitarists

Kurt Cobain - I didn't think about him. I'm not much of a Nirvana fan. But he did usher in a whole new sound to rock and roll.

Les Paul - I just completely forgot about him. It was very late. The god father of electric guitar. No excuse in over looking Les Paul.

I wanted to add BB King, but he hasn't really added anything substantial to the blues. He is however one of the best. But he is still jammin those 12 bar blues in A minor.

John Lennon and George Harrison- I was close to putting them on. They were more ground breaking on their studio wizardry not really their playing. After all it was Clapton who played the solo on my guitar gently weeps.

      Boxcar thank you.

Johnny Ramone - there wouldn't be an american punk sceen without the Romones.

Endrik that is what I am looking for.
      Paco De Lucia
I enjoy listening to Flamenco but no very little about the players.

        I'll add: Paul Gilbert

        Tuck Andress
        Manuel Baruecco
        Steve Howe
I'm sure I could think of more but my brain would overheat.

You forgot Nokie Edwards.....The Ventures left a large mark on the guitar world in the 50s and 60s. Alot of the guitarists who came up in the 60s and 70s grew up on Venture's instrumental guitar work, and incorporated it into their own style.............

Paco is insane. He is one of the most technical players ever. Paco is fast as Yngwie, but he plays with all of his right hand fingers.

Good call on Steve Howe, he is the major influence for all Prog players.

Friday Night In San Francisco. Inspiring album. He's a sick flamenco player too.

                    Re: Most Influential Guitarists

JEFF BECK huge influence for the last 4 decades on all kinda players and if I'm not mistaken Blow by Blow and Wired both hit the charts in the mid 70s way predating Surfing. Wired totally changed my outlook on guitar playing and music in general. Anyone else from the 60s is dead or playing such lame stuff it sounds like they are, granted I'm not real thrilled with his last couple albums but he still keeps pushing it.

                        Re: Most Influential Guitarists

For you UK guys. According to The Guitar by Nick Freeth, Eddie Cochran was a major influence on British guitarist. Is this true? His only hit here was Summertime Blues.
