  • Overlord Of Music trem system

Odd little duck. It came in the Solo headless guitar kit that I used as the base for a guitar that is part of a "set" (guitar & bass). The guitar & its case are in "The Stuff I Build" thread (bass coming soon).

I'm not sure how to begin to describe this thing. It's nothing like an FR or Washburn trem. Just have to check out the photos.

The string blocks have a couple of height-adjustment setscrews, but the intonation has to be set by moving the blocks "manually"; there's no threaded system for that adjustment. One main spring underneath for the main tension adjustment, and there's a built-in locking function.

Seems to be fairly well-built, though.

    these are cheap chinese knockoffs
This one looks like a steinberger... which makes sense since it was a headless guitar

Ah, that's where I'd seen it before. I had a good idea that they weren't very expensive, because the entire guitar kit was under $200.

Looks same as Steinberger R-Trem on Spirit series headless guitars:

Digging into my age-fogged memory, I do seem to recall that the guitar kit (Solo SBK) did resemble a Steinberger. I sliced off the angled parts, keeping the already-routed center section as the basis for the Yorick guitar; doing basically the same with the upcoming matching bass. And, my comment about it being "fairly well-built" is more about the solid feel of the piece as opposed to the precision (or lack thereof) of it. If I were to get the desire to build something for someone else and use this type of system, I would not use one of the MOR units. In my own collection, this one will suffice.
