  • Hey all of you "Fest Bands"

I just played my first fest the other day with a stage that was outside (in the sun)... so of course, all of the LEDS on my FCB1010 were unreadable as well as some of the LEDS on my effects rack.

Is there something that can done that help minize this effect? Like putting a semi-transparant "something" that will stop the sun from bleeding out the LEDs but yet, allowing the LEDs to shine thru? I got myself into some trouble because as I as pressing my FCB I accidently hit my bank button and it put me to a different bank that I could not see. I had to wait until the song was done and then get on my hands-knees to cover things things up so I could see to got back to bank #1... there's got to be a better way to do this, right???

    thanks!!

so was the issue that the led's were being washed out by the sun, or that the glare of the sun reflecting off the led's made the light invisible? if the former, there's nothing you can do besides put your gear in the shade. for the latter, there are various ways you can "diffuse" the light which may help (or may not, who knows). I've never dealt with the issue you're having, but I've dealt with led's which were TOO bright but only in a particular direction, which I solved by diffusing the light. I've used a piece of blue painters tape before. matte scotch tape could also work maybe. you'll have to try it in your backyard I think. of course using tape to diffuse the light will in essence reduce the amount light actually coming out by a small amount, so this solution would really only work if indeed your issue is sun glare being reflected from the led.

Thanks for the idea... I think I'll try the matte tape to see if that would work.
