This is just something that gets my curiousity going: Jackal's "Lumberjack Song" has this hysterical part where it sounds like someone is playing a riff on a chainsaw.
I'm guessing it's a guitar being run through some sort of effect that fakes the chainsaw sound. I'm wondering if anybody knows what device could do this.
Now, I posted this in the Guitarists.net forum, and a few geniuses said "It's a chainsaw."
Great. So how exactly did they do it? Mic and record, then use Pro Tools or something like it do monkey with the pitch?
Most importantly, how would they do it live?
