I cannot play the guitar anymore. I never really could, so that's no great loss in the grand scheme of all things musical.

But I cannot keep skin on my fingertips. Either hand. Its not a lotion thing, cause I've tried three different brands and they all seem to make it worse. I'm a Kidney Dialysis paitient, so my body's chemistry is whacked, to say the least, so I'm sure it stems from that.

I'll speak to my Kidney Doctor about it tomorrow, but he'll likely shrug and say it's common. Lots of things that suck are common when you're on dialysis.

Thanks guys. Thanks for letting me whine to you.
I was just shown some good info about dialysis and skin ailments by a Doctor on The Gear Page. It is common, and though there may not be a cure, I may be able to make it better.
Better would be good enough for me.

Chuck, I used to have a job that just tore my fingertips to hell making it nearly impossible to play. You may want to try what I did. There is a first aid treatment called " Liquid Skin"......I would just put it on my fingertips and it seemed to help a fair amount. Also, to take the pain out, try dabbing some Anbesol ( sp ?} for toothaches. If your finger tips are close to the nerves, the Anbesol may penetrate enough to numb the tips a little bit.......its also good to put it onto the tip of your dangly-doo if you want to long stroke it for a while.-Lou

Yeah, I have been dabbling with Liquid Skin. It kinda helps...for a little while. Anbesol on Mr. Salty, eh? Not at my age!

I was checking the air pressure on my truck tires this afternoon and could hardly tighten the valve stem caps.
