Re: more black metal madness

todays black metal isnt any more than a really sick and dumb joke......and not a funny one. the whole "true" bm thing is totally against everything bm used to stand for.

well.....somehow i think i understand those "true norwegian black metal" dudes. the problem is.....they do soo much for beeing "true" and different from the so called posers that they also became posers....

and i totally agree with bill, the whole corpsepaint thing is sooo lame...how can they expect to be taken for serious while looking like....a cheap kiss copy??

Re: more black metal madness

Traditionally, BM is about Satanism and a firm hatred for christianity. Today it's general subject matter has branched to other areas like National Socialism, Paganism, Misanthropy, and white power. So, a lot of BM veterans today agree that at its core, BM is all about pure f**king hatred. I personally don't care, I just listen to the stuff and go \m/. Dimmu Borgir no longer plays real BM, but I still listen to them. Why? Because they still make good music.

On the corpse paint subject, I remember someone stating that there was once a tradition of wearing such black and white face paint when attacking christians and churches. I can't remember what group of people it was, or even what time period. I'll look into it more if I feel like it.

This is true. And it goes both ways. The scariest looking person you ever saw could be the nicest, most gentle soul you ever meet.

As for corpse paint and costumes... I think if your band is getting into that, then its not about the music anymore. This doesn't necessarily make you less of a musician but it does detract from true art in my opinion.
Things like this are better left for Helloween and everyday partying.

I disagree. Darkthrone, Emperor, Leviathan, and a good number of other corpse paint users have made some awesome music. I highly doubt that their spending time dressing up for photo shoots really took away from the art of their music. All bands and artists have some sort of image, whether or not they want one.

"Evil" is the things we don't like ...Good are the things we do like.

It's all subjective perception.

I don't comdone "Evil" of killing innocent people...but I do condone pulling out the baby Jesus outta Mary and slapping him on his little tushy..

I give up on corpsepaint
I'm going to start to play live without corpsepaint, even though I think it's ok. When the audience have it, it is pathetic, though.

Satan never wore Corpsepaint...

even if he was a mortal.
