Re: Talledega!

Alright some Nascar fans- I went to Vegas in 03. Not only Junior did anybody see what Stewart did. He was somewhere like 30th next thing he was in 2nd. Poor Sadler damn that guys car always flys at dega. Big applause to JR though 4 laps to the front-he definitely has something special at the restrictor plates-not all car. I was hopin mayfield would make a comeback, he got so beat upon by crybaby rusty while at Penske. Plus I would like to see a mopar back as the Champ.

Looks like JR. Got the hit. They took 25 from him and now he is 12 points out.... I can't believe it. I guess it has to do with sportsmanship and all but they took the poiunts lead away... Like I said before, I am a JG fan and want him to win the Cup but not that way....

Re: Talledega!

Well, now I have heard everything. When a driver has to be PC on an interview when he is so hyped is just BS. To be dunned points sucks. Restrictor plate racing sucks. Look at the old tapes and see how the field is spread out. Yea, they go real fast. If they want to do that, fine. Todays cars aren't stock. That sucks. This whole NASCAR media-hype is a joke. I think the 12 year love affair with these non-stock cars is over. Put the "Stock" back in stock car or let them race with the best cars they can field. If they crash and burn that's OK by them.

Re: Talledega!

Sorry, but if NASCAR had set guidelines of behavior, then they needed to remain consistent (right or wrong) in their recent decision. I like Junior, I like Gordon, hell (oops, don't fine me 25 posts) I like lots of drivers. Bottom line is that this is the biggest sport in the U.S. appealing to people of all ages. If NASCAR sets the rules, the drivers need to learn self control and abide by them. Junior funked up and now he needs to suck it up and drive hard the remainder of the series.

I think the bullshit is the penalty. It's bullshit for Jr and it's bullshit for the bush drivers. In all fairness, it was an interview, not a candid moment, but come on. NBC should bleep better. Hopefully, the points race will spread out a little farther either way so that this doesn't effect who wins.

Re: Talledega!

I think NASCAR's big argument is going to be that all ages watch these events. That includes all the ity bity Juniors who have daddy spending his pay check to buy diecast collector's cars under the track's grandstands. Granted, the loss of points was over the top (as with the Busch drivers), but you guys know as well as I that a pissy little fine does nothing but make for good humor back in the pits.

Then NBC should have bleeped it! Like I said earlier... they're supposed to have a 2 second delay...WTF?

Agreed, but this is NBC's responsability not NASCAR. NBC is the broadcaster not NASCAR, they should do whatever is needed to make sure this (bleep) doesn't happen on their network.

On the other hand, he knew what would happen if he swore. It had already happened to the Busch guys. I doubt that he feels that this is unjust. At least I hope he does.

Re: Talledega!

true but with out TV NASCAR would not be what it is today. My 6 yr. old was watching with me and he did not catch it... No harm done but if he did and started repeating it I would be a little upset. As someone said earlier, hopefully the points spread will widen out to the point that it would not have made a difference. It would suck to lose 5 Million bucks and the cup for a slip of the tongue.

They should give junior a break. Think about it. He just got done going around and around in circles really freakin' fast. Clearly the man was dizzy. You can't hold someone accountable for what they say in that condition.

I sure am glad that our government is protecting me. It would be horrible if I ever heard someone say ****, ****, etc. What's next? Are they gonna require women to button they're shirts all the way and start adding blur effects or black boxes to Baywatch reruns? Fucktards. I don't need some sissy ass bible thumper pushing buttons in a control booth protecting me or my children.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

This is my point. This is not NASCAR or Jr's problem. If the government has such a hard on for bleeping and bluring us to death, then that should be on them not NASCAR or Jr. That being said, how sad is it that things like this are such a big friggin deal. My 5 and 7 year olds were watching as well and didn't pick it up either. If they did they would have laughed and I would have explained why he said it. Thats right, I WOULD have said it. I don't need the government to "help" me shelter my kids from swear words and breasts on TV. I hate to respond so strongly, but this sensorship thing has gotten way out of hand. I could go on, but that would turn this into one of the political threads were right wing extremists would insult me becasuse of my opinion so I'll stop here.

This points thing sucks, but hopefully it will not make a difference in the champion.

BTW this was not directed at anyone or any specific post. Just me venting

Yea, it may be NBC's responsibility to monitor the broadcast, but it's the responsibility of the drivers and crews to follow the guidelines set forth by NASCAR. It would be interesting to hear the opinions of the other drivers, the team owners, and their sponsors.
