  • Mount St Helens

After Saturdays impressive steam eruption, will she or won't she erupt again? I say she will erupt in a couple of months but it won't be anything like it was in 1980.

According to the news last night the whatchamacologists are expecting it to have a big blow very soon. Glad I moved. Hope my house sells before it blows though...

We won't see hardly any of the wrath of it up here, portland and vancover will though. Last time I saw the wind reports it was either gonna go south or east

I heard there's been a bunch of mini earthquakes in Washington State today, sounds like it's coming.

                    Re: Mount St Helens

I was up there in July right after the last blow (which was what, May 1980?). Everything was covered in ash. [Heh heh. I said, 'blow'.]

Hope all our Pacific North West JCF-ers are ok. If you need to, come down here and we can blow the ash off you with the next hurricane that shows up.

I'll take this eruption over your hurricanes anyday, I don't see it being that big, and all the crap will spray south and east.

                        Re: Mount St Helens

I was a kid living in Portland back in 1980 during the big eruption. That volcanic ash was some nasty stuff, man. I had to go and scoop it up from our curbside--when wet it was as heavy as concrete, and when it was dry you had to wear a facemask to avoid inhaling the dust when you mowed the lawn or such.

Even if there is a southeasterly wind when it blows this time, I don't think there is enough of the mountain left to spew sufficient ash for the Portland area to get hit. At least I hope not--my parents still live there.

Just kidding. If she does blow, I hope no gets hurt.
