That GW issue is lame. I hate to admit it, but I read the whole article. Not even sure why.

Sure, a few parts of it were funny. Then again, other parts of it were like "WTF? That was an awesome solo." But mostly it was just sad and immature. Teenage catty girls-immature. Sad, sad monkey beater immature. I'm so pathetic and insecure that the only way I can feel good about myself is to put other guitarists down-immature.

They tried to pass it off as toungue-in-cheek, but the truth pretty much came through. Especially telling of the underlying truth was the unusually high number of shredders on that list. A lot of anti-shredding snobbery and bias, there. But, ultimately, it was the same sad old attitude of many guitarists. It's like the old saying goes... "How do you spot the guitarists at a live show? They'll be the ones with crossed arms and a scowl on their face, thinking 'I can do better than that hack.' And at the same time, their foot is tapping / head is banging to the beat." [img]/images/graemlins/eyes.gif[/img]

CC pretty fits in the band well but "GUITAR SOLO" that the magazine is talking about is probably from Live where he takes 15minutes for his guitar solo.
I have seen Poison in 89 and around 91.
His solo is pretty terrible.
He repeats the same stuff and a lot of noises.
Only the part I liked was where he played his nylon acoustic guitar.
It was very good actually.

All these list suck . I think I established and proved that with the Rolling Stone's 100 best guitarist poll.

CC isn't great but he's far from sucks ...there is so much worse that isn't even on the list....at least everyone on the list can play a "guitar solo" somewhat...more than I could say for anyone on the radio for the last ten years.

Like Neal Young for example as Matt suggested ...he can't play a solo to save his life ...but he's a popular "songwriter"...same goes for Springstien...popularity does NOT mean talent.

all these polls are based on popularity and not ability.

Plus how could you truly poll anything without knowing all the players ...you can not.

Hendrix , Page , Nugent , Schon ...c'mon gimme a friggin' break ...I wish they would get a clue ...they need my ass in there writing this crap for them.

although I do agree with a few players on their list ..just a few.

what about the solo to "Hot Blooded" what the hell was that!!??

C.C.'s solos fit the songs. I think on the VH1 behind the music C.C. said he was classically trained and if his teacher ever heard what C.C. was playing he would croak.

Yeah, my opinion of CC has grown over the years as the quality of rock guitar playing has declined. Yeah, compared to Vai CC sucks, but compared to most guitarists of the popular bands of the last 10 years, he's a genius. It's all relative, and his live solo probably sucks because he's coked up, DinkyJacksonMan.
I bet he plays a lot better straight, though he probably doesn't enjoy it near as much.

I took 4 months of classical guitar lessons when I was 20 so I could claim to be classically trained, but it would be [img]/images/graemlins/bs.gif[/img] in reality. Maybe CC did something similar, but I'm sure he has no hidden substantial classical chops.

Man I hated Poison ...I mean I friggin' hated them with a passion ...I got stuck seeing them five friggin' times...they opened for everyone at one time....Ratt , Extreme , DLR , and a few other shows back in the day.

BUT , all CC's live guitar solos were decent at least...he has some good chops ...he reminded me of Steve Stevens with Down Syndrome.. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
