Hey Bill have you ever seen Schon live. He shreds, awsome guitar player one of the best I have every seen live. Neil Schon is a Shredder flat out. Saw him two summers ago. Its not like I haven't seen anyone else either. Just great tone chops and speed he is as fast and articulate as anyone out there. I have read articles and he states flatout on albums he does his little thing but live is a different ball game. Took my woman to one of the 80's retro REO, Styx, Journey for her birthday, I was blown away by him.

He played PRS single cuts with floyds, his white strat and old marshall,diezel and one of those MF350 or whatever the new marshall thing.

Back to CC-I have always hated his playing. I too saw them warmup for everband-now that you mention it I think it was DLR with VAI. Can't knock the guy for making some money and tagging a lot of chicks though.

I saw Neil live with Bad English when they opened up for Whitesnake in , Hmm can't remember it's been so long , but you aren't kidding! He smoked during his guitar solo.

CC isnt a bad guitarist, but he sure isnt great. and I think his tone is terrible, always have. I saw that VH1 classic concert they did for their fans and that was LAME!!! The rest of the band did fine, but he was acting like an idiot. He was far more concerned with jumping around like fool rather than palying the guitar and it made the whole band look like a bunch of schleprocks. Too bad really because the rest of the band is tight and he ruins it. He is goofy, but there is a time to act like a rock star and a time to play your friggin guitar. JMO

I saw CC setup in guitar one a while back. He uses Crate GX Series heads, so its no wonder his tone sucks.

I just saw Journey a month ago 6th row right infront of Neil Schon and he absolutely kicked ass. He had a Marshall and a Diezel which sounded incredible. He played a red LP Custom with a Floyd for all but maybe 1 song where he played a black Fender Strat. What I though was strange was the drummer sang a couple songs and probably sounded closer to Steve Perry than thier Lead singer. All-in-all a great show and I highly recommend going to see them.
