Watching sports on tv bores the hell out of me. I was into playing baseball when I was a kid, in little league, then as a teenager in the "babe ruth" league, but that was about it. I've been to quite a few major league baseball games through the years (Yankees and Mets) and a few hockey games (Devils and Rangers), and I don't mind going to see them every once in awhile and being in the actual stadium. I was a Yankees fan when I was little, and I still am, but I really don't follow.
This chick I'm good friends with loves football and watches religiously, but I go off in a daze when watching and can't keep focused. She'll walk away, come back and ask what happened, and I'll say I don't know and that I wasn't paying attention.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

I've fallen, Fallen through. If I'm Not With you, All I wanna Do Is Feel blue
Baseball sucks. They just stand there. All pro sports suck since they've dumbed down the rules to "Afro-Ball Rules" - travelling, double-dribbles, reaching in, hanging on the goal. All that stuff used to be against the rules, but the rules were changed for one reason - to appease the ignorant and lazy who thought rules were constricting.
Saw a part of the Tenn-Georgia game the other day. Tennessee "playa" mugged the Georgia guy for the ball. I mean, if the guy drops the ball on his own, that's fine, but to grab it and RIP it our of the guy's hands in an obvious tog of war is just bad conduct.
I agree with Bill on this one, and it's got nothing to do with racism. It's about sportsmanship and fair play - you know, those basic values that you're supposed to learn?

I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
i've had plenty of football coaches that talk about forcing fumbles; it's part of defense, as is reaching in while playing basketball. i'm with ya to an extent on the travelling, double dribbles, etc, but i don't watch musch basketball since my favorite team (chicago) was disbanded years ago.
i do have issue with with your afro ball terminology; say what you will about it not being racially motivated, etc, but it doesn't belong here. there's better ways to get your point across.
Overall Baseball isn't fast-paced enough to catch my attention. When I do go to a game at Wrigley, it's only to drink beer and ogle the chicks. Occasionally I'll celebrate a good play, but that's because I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb.
Watching golf is like watching paint dry...
The only time I ever really got into basketball was when I either played it, or when my ex-fiance's (many many moons ago) dad was watching the Bulls during the playoffs. The excessive attitudes of the players is becoming a major turn-off.
Football is what I'd have to say is my #2 sport. Even with saying that, I do find myself getting fed up with the attitudes of the players. The excessive showboating and celebrations at points when there really shouldn't be (like when they're losing) just turns me off. It all seems to be about bragging rights nowadays. I feel that a lot of the players (of most professional sports, not just football) have lost perspective of not only playing a game, but loving the game they're playing.
Hockey is my all-time favorite sport. It's fast-paced and there isn't all the showboating that goes on in most sports. If there is, there's usually a fist-fight. Now I say all that with a heavy heart due to the lockout.
I was planning on treating ya to a Hawks/Wings game this year Todd.
How much do I like Hockey?
My birthday is Sept. 13 - Start of training camp.
My anniversary is Oct 13 - Start of season
My daughters B-day is April 10 - start of playoffs.
This lockout sucks, and I blame the greedy players. I cant blame the owners, anyone who puts up hundreds of millions of dollars to buy a team deserves the lions share of the profits.

I thought it was funny! I don't think Newc is being racist, but maybe he should have called it "Ghetto Ball".

I sense a couple people around here having painful vivid playground memories of being picked last for any sport and being the first nailed on the head in dodgeball either that or they are really limp wristed
