Tommy, all I'll say is that in my opinion (and this is not directed at you or anyone in particular) it's easier to be a Yankee fan than a Sox fan. To me, it's easy to be a fan when you win all of the time - but I don't remember a big fervor over the Yanks during the Mattingly years.

You Yankee fans never do. Your team is always nothing but good. They can do no wrong. Kind of like the parent you want to punch in the face as there kid annoys everyone around them as they stand there ingore it and do nothing. And us Boston fans unfortunately have to watch those dumpy looking Yankee fans with their moronic "1918" and "whose your daddy" chants. The reason you never see a Yankee fan praying for a win is because they all turn their backs and walk out of the stadium when they are losing. Now that is what I call pitiful and pathetic. Fukking fair weather fans.

            [/ QUOTE ]

I never said that the Yanks are 'nothing but good'. I simply stated that Shef would not be stupid enough to give the opponent (ANY opponent) bulliten board fodder. Seems pretty simple to me....And as far as 'fair weather' fans go...I've been a Yankee fan since I could pronouce the word 'baseball'...Through the crappy early seventies years, the late seventies 'Bronx-Zoo', the sadly inept eighties to early nineties... I don't think that qualifies as 'Fair Weather'...whatever...I would never 'turn my back' on my team, EVER. I would venture to guess that there are as many passionate Yanks fans as there are Bosox ones...The whole 'I'm a real fan, your not' is not particularly valid...I live and die by my team, as I'm sure you do...Anyway...Enjoy the game...

I don't believe Schilling is hurt, or, at least, not as bad as he and the Red Sox organization would have us believe. Is his ankle "bothering" him? yes, without a doubt. But no one--and I mean NO ONE--comes back five days later when tendons are torn and/or ruptured. will i be forced to hear-"You didn't beat their best; you beat damaged goods". If Shilling goes out tonight and gets bombed again (very unlikely), he's a hero, a gutty gritty hero, who just couldn't overcome a terrible injury. If, however, he goes out and tosses a gem (which I expect), "wow, what a warrior." Can you imagine the broadcast tonight on FOX?
i'd rather take out my liver with an oyster fork than listen to one more syllable of Tim McCarved-Up's bullsh1t
rhetoric.he is " mr. master of the obvious". does anyone elses skin crawl when you hear his voice?-lol

schilling is going to pitch just fine tonite. as long as he can push off the rubber. don't fall for the trick, he's been playin' possum.

Yankees fan since birth. Good years and bad. And, yes, there were many bad.

And, as Kenn stated, Sheff is smarter than that. It's pretty sad that the Boston media has to basically MAKE STUFF UP to get their team motivated. IMHO, that says a lot about the Sox.

Never said "Kennslp" is a fair weather fan. And as far as Sheffield and his comment goes I'm sure he said something. All that matters to Sox fans and the Sox are the particular words the journalist choose to put in that quote. Just like Yankee fans and the Yankees listening to the journalist that choose to put Schilling's words as being "I want to make 55000 New Yorkers shut up". There was more to the conversation than that. And what I take exception to as a Sox fan is being called pitiful. If Yankee fans want to dish out low blows like that then they should expect them back.

You just proved my point shreddermon. The Sox have nothing to do with the Boston Herald. So how is it that they made it up and it says a lot about them? If that's the case I can only assume the Yankees took a blip of Schilling's conversation and did the same with the shut up comment.

And while we're posting our allegiances. Born and raised in New York 42 miles due north of "the Stadium". Still live in New York. What else would I be but a Sox fan. lol Always have been always will. Missed going to, or watching or listening to maybe half a dozen Sox games this year. Thank you direct TV for bringing me NESN. Now if MLB would only let them broadcast the Yankee games. I wouldn't have to listen to Katz and Kay. And yes Tommy McCarver is a douche bag. I am thinking of inventing a TV that allows the user to remove certain individuals audio from the mix. Isn't his contract up soon anyhow? Glad he's a Yankee fan though. So is Buck but at least he's decent.

Supposedly, the Sox posted that quote all over their clubhouse to get the team mad and motivated. And, of course, the Herald misquoted him fully expecting the Sox to do this. ...So the Boston media made up a quote to get their Team pissed. Presumably, the Herald would know the Sox's players well, and knew it would do this. ...It says something about the Sox Team themselves that their home town media - who knows them well - would have to make s**t up to get them motivated. i.e., They wouldn't be motivated enough ON THEIR OWN for the game.

Sure, the Yanks did this in the clubhouse with Schilling dribble, too. And I'm sure the NY media full expected this, too. But the difference is that the NY media - as insane as they are - didn't make up the quote. They don't need to. They know their team will be motivated all on their own.

I hope I don't have to waste another night at the TV. My laundry is piling up and my Charvel is getting lonely. I need at least a couple of days rest before we start the World Series. Game 1 in the Bronx.
