And how is Lowe a bad choice? Did you miss the game on Sunday. Since Wakefield throws knuckle and off speed stuff he recovers a lot quicker than the pitchers that are throwing fastballs

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was in relief appearance. In Yankee Stadium I don't think he's a good choice, when it comes down to a game seven, all-or-nothing. Wakefield has, in the back of his head Aaron Boone. This year's Aaron Boone might be Tony Clark because Tony might actually be able to hit Wakefield, since he can't hit anyone else. He seems to be missing the ball by, oh, a foot and a half or more, which means he would be right on target for one of Wakefield's pitches. Tony needs to play pickup basketball this winter.

ah shades of kent hrbek pulling what's his name off the bag in 87. thing i don't get about the interference call is why was jeter put back on first? he should have been put on second. no? it was a force anyway but he easily would have made it to second.

Shred, it was Ken's thread, but I was referring to our discussion yesterday in regards to your comment. The article says it was in the Herald, but doesn't mention that it came from Baseball Weekly, which was a topic of discussion on WEEI yesterday.

It's all good. It's jiggy, it's butter, baby. I'm just looking forward to a great game tonight. No predictions here.

Yeah, I didn't understand this, either. Even with calling A-rod out for the cheeseball interference, the runner should have advanced otherwise. There's got to be some arcane baseball rule here that doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense.

...Not that it would've mattered for the inning's results, though. Just curious.

            And BFM, it's all good.

If there is an interference call on the batter the runners are sent back to their original spots and the batter is out. Thems the rules.

so it would have been better if a-rod has just run arroyo over? return to first even though it was a force? i'm confused, LOL

                      Actually it 6.06.c.

"No player may advance on such interference (offensive interference) and all runners must return to the last base that was, in the judgment of the umpire, legally touched at the time of the interference."

i was kidding. i was referring to a spot espn had on joe west earlier this season. he uses rule 902B (i'm pretty sure that's it) to back himself up. i think it's like a catch all rule for any situation not specifically covered in the rulebook.

Joe is definitely the prick of all umps. Piss him off and don't expect anything to go your way from there on in. I think he's behind the plate tonight too. A-Rod better hope he didn't see the comment he made about last nights umpiring. lol

Besides he would probably follow Lowe instead of be put back into last years situation. I don't think Francona would put him in that situation again simply because he felt he lost the game for the team last year.
