okay, i also have to say that while i love the arod with a purse pic, the ichoke one isn't as good. granted, it's funny, but i don't think that anyone choked here. even when we were down 3-0; the yankees were being the yankees and doing what they do (destroy opposition). thankfully, we adjusted and won the series. it doesn't mean that the yankees choked by any means. sure, both sides had missed opportunities, but that happens in every baseball game. it's how someone usually winds up winning a game, no?

and really, while we're excited as hell for the sox to be in it, we should also be careful and respectful to those here that are yankee fans. it was one hell of a series, for sure.

Anylysts from ESPN say the yankees are done for 2005 now. Heavy contracts, no prospects and little hope of change for next year. Unless Brenner is winning to sustantially increase his payroll to well over 200 million or make some blockbuster deals, his whole pitching staff needs to be rebuilt

the yankees are far from done in 2005. that is the silliest thing i have heard so far.

the yanks did not do what they are famous for, which is
putting you away when the opportunity is there. i attribute that shortcoming to this-
quantrill and gordon had over 80 appearances, rivera over 70. combine that with the sox seeing him so many times, a personal tradgedy, generally being out of gas and the hunger to not get put away inside the sox lineup and you have what happened. joe torre says that he feels whoever won the last game in a series has the momentum. and game 5 was when ortiz put the sox on his back and took them to the next level. the sox are probably the only team that could have rebounded like this. once again i will say it, i am blown away that the sox pulled this off and i congratulate them, but i have never seen my yanks let a team back into a series like they did in games 4 and 5. i just can't believe it. i am positive the stripes will be right back in the thick of things in '05.
now- who do i root for? the sox and the american league in general, or the cards or the 'stros because of this horrendous loss? i don't know, let's see who pisses me off on the board here the most!!!-lol
so far Strangle-Pat and Lev are runnin' neck and neck!!!-lol
(i would hope that you know i am having fun with this)

I think the only thing we got out of him was a ground rule double that forced the runner back to third. Maybe a crappy single too,.........and the rest strikeouts!

Oh Yeh bro, I know it's all in fun! As are my "sometimes over the top" comments as well. It's ALL in fun, so don't think otherwise...

I can't comment on the Yanks as I don't follow the AL at all. I rarely follow the NL, only in the playoffs and jumping on the Home Team Wagon. As I've said before, I lost my desire for baseball many years ago with all the strikes and the piss poor attitude by all the million dollar men...

But I'm a true die hard Cards fan, have been for 30 yrs, can't change that! Back in the 85 World Series, KPLR ( local TV for the Cards ) had a commercial with me, my gal at the time in the bleachers, I had the whole 80's hair thing going on, some red overalls and a red bandanna around my neck, old EVHesque.... But every game, there I was at least once a game in the commercials! ( I'd like to see that again, i wonder if I can dig up a tape somewhere )

Peace!

Pat

And there is the flaw in the analysts' logic. He always IS willing to reach into the deep pockets.

Yes, a lot of guys are locked into their contracts next year. But that doesn't mean George won't increase the overall payroll and/or find ways to trade the dead wood (...even at a loss!) to free up some $ capacity.

If you follow the analysts' non-logic completely through, the Yanks would've never even been able to make an offer to the Big Unit. No $ or prospects to actually do it. Well, that's what the analysts would have you believe. But the truth is Johnson was ready to sign - begging to do it! - but the Diamondbacks wouldn't let him go. They got greedy, and just figured they'd get more out of trading him next year, anyway.

You'll see more deals like that for the 2005 Yankees, but ones that will finally have ink to paper. And, yes, a lot of it will be on the pitching staff where it's needed. The commentators and analysts were writing off the BoSox four games ago. Now those SAME guys are writing off the 2005 Yanks. They'll be wrong on BOTH accounts.
