"save the crackhead antelopes"

i know they're not cute, i know they don't have their own t.v. show, but they deserve a chance too. just because snobs like sully look down on them does not mean you have too. so join me in this cause to save the crackhead antelope
because if we can convince them to clean up and turn things around, then we get to do their leftover crack.
thankyou.

Re: DEER KILLING ANYONE??

I dont want to push hunting on anyone, but another viewpoint to keep in mind is this: both my father and my mother were raised in the rural midwest. They were both from poor families, both of their fathers worked DAMN hard to put food on the table and pay the bills etc with no luxuries. SOmetimes things got tight, real tight, and they had to rely on etaing wild game to survive. NO B.S. here man, this was real life growing up in rural america in the 40's and 50's and even 60's. My mom's brothers would hunt and fish daily to bring home supper or they didnt eat. same with my dad's family. and they learned to hunt and fish young because they HAD too. They didnt have things like welfare or social services to help you out, and even if they did, people would have been to proud or embarrased to accept it. If fact, in those days, if they game warden caught you illegally hunting or fishing in order to get food because you really needed it to live, they wouldnt arrest you. they would confiscate the game illegally taken as the law was written, then escort you to the grocery store where they would usually buy your family a few bags of groceries out of their own pocket. thats NO bullcrap as I know situations where that has really happened. THis is how it worked in those days, people helped people in need. But if you were just out violating the laws for fun or just for hte sake of doing it, they threw the book at you and prosecuted to the letter of the law. So hunting for some people was a necessity. and keep in mind fishing is no diffent from hunting in respect to killing something in order to eat it. Fishing is no less brutal than hunting.

Just some more food for thought and a different perspective to consider.

totally agree with you on that, i've got no problems with hunting to keep food on your table. i just disagree with hunting animals for sport.

In St. Louis, actually Wildwood Mo there's so many deer, you can now hunt, with permission on private property in subdivisions with $500k homes. You can only use a bow, but it's like hunting at the zoo! But it is for the good and the population, it's getting dangerous out there with all the deer running around all over.

you gotta love dogs that don't bark, and love to lay down and sleep, eh? i do believe that their racing training is part of what makes them so well mannered, but yes, they do have a tough life. i used to foster adopted greyhounds, and assisted people with adoptions. it was very rewarding, to say the least.

I kill to eat. I butcher the deer myself. There is nothing better than fresh loins smoked in apple or hickory wood. drool:

Besides, if it is processed right, you only get about a teaspoon of fat out of 2-pounds of burger.

I go hunting and never really kill anything.... But is killing anything really the point? All I know is that I can't hear my wife, the mobile phone, and the Docs I call on everyday sitting on a deer stand.... That is the Point.

Re: DEER KILLING ANYONE??

Well I don't have anything with people going hunting...I have many friends who do and always want me to come along ...but I always decline..

I'm not down with killing animals ...I'm no faggot ass hippie activist by no stretch and I love meat ...I crave MEAT!!!

But in this day and age there is farms and slaughter houses that prepare my food for me ...No need to rip the heart out of a baby calf with my bare hands to enjoy it.

I would kill a animal in a heartbeat if I was in danger or for food if it was neccesary but never for fun or sport...to me that just plain friggin' sadistic..

Gimme a "reason" I can be sadistic..

I would kill a human just as easy as killing an animal if I had to ...I shot people before ...it's no big deal ...and NO I'm not a bigger , badder , better man for doing it ..

I had to do it ...that's all.

If i saw someoe kill a squirrel , racoon , rabbit , dog , cat , ect...just for the hell of it (they better eat it) ...then me and that person would have a problem ...and like I always said ..I can handle those kind of problems.

That's my input on Hunting..If you eat what you kill ...COOL ...if not , I don't condone it at all.

Deer hunting - not about the killing

I haven't hunted since I moved to Texas in 87. I can't get into warm weather hunting. I went deer hunting starting at age 12 with my father, every year for 10 years. I never used a tree blind as it was illegal in Michigan to climb a tree with a firearm. I really enjoyed it and looked forward to it every November. My dad, brothers, uncles, cousins and friends all went to Houghton Lake area to hunt. We had between 15 and 35 people depending on the year. After a while it didn't matter to me if I tagged anything, it was just being there, being one with nature in the day and heavy drinking around bondfires at night

I understand non-hunters views about deer hunting but I'd rather see people have meat on the table than deer starving to death slowly, cruel either way I suppose but one is better than the other.

ya know, Shawn hits an important point. ALot of you guys have never seen deer starve to death because they dont have enough to eat. Its a pretty sad sight. Its NOT pretty. I have seen deer that cant get to food because the snow is too deep or the food is too scarce because the deer population is too high. Its not fun to watch them get so week they cant even walk anymore. During some of those rough winters, we even used to feed the deer at our cabin all winter long. My mom and dad would go out daily and dump out buckets of deer feed. They made it through the rough part of the winter, then when the snow melted a bit and they coiuld get their own food, they did. But, that is an important point. Its no fun to watch those deer suffer from starvation. I know, I know, it sounds like I am soapboxing for hunting, but there are alot of points to keep in mind that alot of peeople dont just becuase they havent seen them or been exposed to them.
