Re: JERRY **** RICE A SEAHAWK!!!!!!!!!!

Jerry Rice is amazing. Even in his "later years". He is still a major assest to any team that gets him. His hands, his leadership and experience will help anyone out.

Rice is kickass. What it will do is bring these guys down to earth. His big contribution will be leadership. A playing coach at the weakest position.

Re: JERRY **** RICE A SEAHAWK!!!!!!!!!!

Rice is a legend and a totally classy guy. But there is only one #80 in Seattle; Steve Largent. There is only one # 80 in San Fran Jerry Rice. When Montana went to KC he wore 19 not his 16. In KC 16 is and always will be Len Dawson.
I think Rice should have graciously declined #80 and taken an open number. For me a Giants fan, and I think others feel the same, Rice will always be a 49er no matter what team he plays for. Over the hill or not Seattle will benefit with Rice on the roster. You will never see him drop an easy 3rd down pass like the other Seahawks. He knows the coach the two were together in SF. Mike will know how to use Rice in his offense.

I agree mudkicker. #80 is Steve...enough said. In SF #80 is only Jerry.

I think Largent and rice have special bond, Largent had all those reciving records up till rice started breaking them. If it were a free agent, or some cocky rookie, They would never deserve or have the class to wear #80, I believe Rice and Largent are both #80. Steve has always been my favorite palyer of all time, going back to the earliest football moment I remember to his hall of fame induction. He is and always will be Seahawks football. But to have Rice want to be here to help us and help Seattle and Steve relise their dream's of going deep into the playoffs and maybe the superbowl, theat's what Largent would want and believe me anytime a #80's out on the feild, good times are coming

Being a niner fan..since the days of glory...well since I was born. (1980) I hope Rice comes back to us for his final season. Just to end it where it began...sorta like Shannon Sharpe did.

As a fan of football, when a player has gone above and beyond for their team, forging a bond with the fans, setting leauge records and such. When that player finally leaves the game, and the team bestows the highest honor of retiring that players number, that protects the bond between the player, the team and the fans. The memories associated with that number can never be tarnished by a lesser quality of player. would you ever want to see a 7th round pick wearing Peytons 34, or a special teamer wearing LTs 56 hell no, not me.The NFL has been built on tradition no other number has ever been unretired for anybody.
Like I said I like Rice but he should wear another number period.

Drip I agree it would be awesome to see Rice finish in a 49ers uniform.

Like I said, Largent is and always will be #80 for the hawks, but this opertunity to bring in someone of Rice's Stature is a 1 time thing, Largent brought his teams to playoffs and never did get them over the hump, this time with Rice, we will get it done, I have no worries about my offence now, or the team. Rice is gonna come in and bring his business like style of playing and Largent like class to our team. I think this is the only person in history Steve would do this for, I hope He's there Oct. 31 for the next home game, to raise the 12th man flag, that would cap it all off

I agree with Mudkicker and the_drip, in a big way! I don't agree with using a retired jersey under any circumstances, ever, period! It defeats the entire purpose and what does it tell Largent and his fans?

I think it's wrong, in the worst way!

And I don't know what to think about Rice going anywhere at this point. Kind of reminds me of when Gretzky came to St. Louis or went to New York, ya know?

I don't know the details of the deal, but I think the cash can be better used elsewhere, just for the sake of the club as a whole. While Jerry may be a good boost in the locker room, it takes a special bond/mojo to do what Rice did in San Fran.

Hawks still don't get past the Rams in the playoffs, if they (Hawks) even get to the playoffs, sorry DRS, but...

Ok, I'm officially a hypocrite. I ragged on Jerry a bit on this thread, but then I went and picked him up as a free agent in the JCF fantasy league...

So let me officially change my mind and say that he's going to get 100 yds receiving every game from here on out!
