  • Had to get my friend out of jail last night (DUI)

So my Nephew and a friend of mine were watching the game last night and we had a few beers. Nothing too major. They left about the 7th inning (I was tired) which was about 10 PM. Anyway My friend calls me at 2 this morning saying he needs a ride from the Police Station for a DUI. I am a little kinda confused because this is 4 hours later and he was at my local police station and he lives 4 towns over. On the phone all he says is he blew .09 (.08 is Illinois limit). He can't really talk the officer is there

The story goes on after I pick him up. Well he didn't get a DUI. He got some village ticket. You see he wasn't driving. He parked in a Hotel lot about 4 blocks from my house and passed out. A few hours later he gets awakened to the flashlight on his window.. Now he was not driving and did not have the keys in the ignition but they still really busted his ass. They towed his car and arrested him but it isn't on his record (I guess it was public drunkeness I was so tired when picking him up) I don't know what the deal is I am sure he was in a hotel lot and someone called security(he is a scary looking dude) and they busted him.

Now I am pissed because I didn't think he was drunk and I forced him out so I could go to bed. He should have told me he was that tired (which he was the alcohol just added to it) and that he didn't feel like driving 40 minutes back home.

Important lesson don't mess with drinking and driving. I never do or never have been in a situation like that. I will have a few beers and drive still but man this makes you rethink even that.

things have tightened up extremely when it comes to drunk driving. i know you didn't want that to happen to him so don't sweat it Tets.
i used to get pulled over all the time in my porsche because of my hair and my look. the cops would always ask me
"where'd you get this car? are you a drug dealer?"
although i was generally high all the time but could pull it off as i was a functioning addict, it felt great to always say back to the cop, "no officer, i sell tons of computer chips, i make lots of money, and i can look any way i please". it did feel good to be able to say that.
hopefully i will be able to again.
i'm glad your friend is a.o.k. Tets.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

To be perfectly honest he has had this kinda coming to him though. He crashed some girls car totaled it actually 2 years ago driving back from a bar. He claims he only had one beer but I am sure it was more. They just left the car there and they took a cab to the hospital. At least he got this lesson without actually getting a DUI and will at least strongly reconsider his drinking habits. I was with someone who crashed us when I was 19 and I was tripping at the time. Nothing bad no injuries but before that I had reckless abandon when driving. I was always driving when I was dosing or if I was on any powder.

well there ya go...this may curb his drinking habbits..hopefully.

If they took him in as DUI ....then he was DUI...oh well

Tell him to call a whole bunch of lawyers and not by random ...because that will cost him several thousand...a good lawyer thru word of mouth should get him off easy for $500 ...at least under a grand.

My lawyer took care of my neighbor for $500.
