When I first activated my PayPal account about a year ago, I had a $1500.00 limit on expenditures without being "verified." Since that time, I think I've used PayPal twice. Now I get an email saying I have $200 and some change available.

Someone please explain this verification process. Is it a security issue? Shouldn't they be happy enough having my major credit card info without asking for my phucking bank checking account. Sorry, but I'm old school and I just don't give that kind of info out. Is there any way around this or am I shite out of luck once I spend another $200?

Sorry for the bitch, but this form of payment is new to me.

    Thanks

    Re: PayPal

I'm a verified Canadian PayPal member. Yes, this is granted to certain countries.

It just acts as a safety net, a source of backup funds.

What they do is that PayPal will ask you for your bank account number and then they will deposit two small amounts into your bank account. Wait for your next bank statement or log into your bank's website and find the two deposits, then remember the two amounts. Paste it back into PayPal's fields to verify, and then you and now use your bank account in conjunction with your PayPal. I've never tried withdrawing PayPal funds into my bank account before but I don't see the point when it costs a small fee and the money would end up going towards internet purchases anyways.

      Re: PayPal

Actually, USA Paypal accounts don't pay to transfer funds from Paypal accounts into their bank accounts; that service is free to us.One problem with this if you're a seller is that if your buyer files a complaint against you, Paypal will take that payment back out of your bank account pending resolution of the dispute. They don't really care if they bounce your checks; their view is you should have funds to cover those besides the money you transferred in from Paypal. So that is a big negative to being verifiedwith your checking account. You can always use a different email account and creditcard to create an additional Paypal account and get more spending limit that way.

        Re: PayPal

I actually prefer being verified with paypal.... instead of waiting a couple of days for money to be transferred to my bank account to paypal then on to the person Ive bought from, its instant...I pay and the money is instantly in their paypal account, THEN I have to wait 2 or 3 days for the money to be withdrawn from Navy Fed to paypal. As far as the complaint and the chargeback, I had that happen last year (smack dab during the hurricane mind you) and they didnt take anything from my bank account. I had X amount of days to resolve everything on my end, and the buyer had to accept...basically I sent his money back and he dropped it all...took for freaking ever though...
