• Van Halen Destruction Again?

Read the first news item for Oct 25. Sounds like VH is doomed again.

Everything reported on Melodic Rock usually is true.

Dont blame Sammy. He has worked with hundreds of musicians, and they all only have good words to say about him. EVH has only worked with a few musicians, and they all say he is a dick...............

Disappointing. But not all that surprising, either.

My sense from all I've seen and heard over the past year or two is that Eddie is in a downward spiral. Every now and then he seems to pull himself up a little bit, but the overall trend continues down. I hope he can help himself, because that's the only person that can really do it. Good luck EVH.

I've herd all this for the past 3 weeks, It's probally true, but The show on friday was the best show on the tou so far, that's coming from people who have seen tons of shows on this tour. Like I said Eddie seemed happy, him and Sammy were playing off each other the whole show. They even did the 5150 walk during best of both worlds

DRS, keep in mind... It is the "show"
I will say again tho, they've been awesome all 3 times I've seen them in recent months.

Definitely a shame tho, no doubt.

Maaaaan. Y'Know, growing up, I remember Eddie as a class act. He was cool about giving the fans what they really wanted. I recall seeing VH in the early 80's in Dayton, OH (Hara Arena I think). We had really good seats. He was doing his nightly solo. Being a guitar player, When he came over to us, I calmly gave him the "thumbs up", while everyone around me was jumping up & down & going wild. He looked right at me, then ponted at me, and gave me the "thumbs up" back. Then he threw me a pick (which some punk in front of me got).

The point is, he used to make an effort to "give back" to the fans. Now he cant even stay sober long enough to do a show. Everything he does is for a buck...more like a buck with several zeros after it. It's sad to think that the guy who changed guitar playing more than anyone else ever has, is slowly falling apart, and doesnt even seem to care. It's a shame.

Friday night Ed did the same with a few of us, as he was playing in front of us, me and the guy next to me were playing air guitar and jumping up and down and pointing at
Ed and stuff, and he pointed at us and threw us picks, and same with mikey.

Re: Van Halen Destruction Again?

No one wants to see Ed self-destruct and take the band down with him yet again. It's just that once it's happened before, you always fear it'll happen again. Hey, if Sammy leaves maybe Ed will get pissed off enough to get Roth back out of spite. A DLR VH tour after this one would really ice the cake! I'd actually pay to see that one, unlike Van Hagar!

I'm with you Lerx!!! Diamond David Lee Roth with Van Halen would be the greatest stadium tour of all time!!! I saw them together on 3-tours, the best.

Re: Van Halen Destruction Again?

And yet Roth's band sounds like Van Halen, while Van Hagar sounds like... slacks. Also, Roth has toured a lot more consistently and reliably than VH has in the past 7 years. He worked, while Ed drank, smoked, got cancer, then smoked again. Who's the nutjob there?
Ed's killing himself, plain and simple. Dave is at least enjoying his life.
