So Ed and Al keep using singers as cannon fodder so they don't kill each other in that room if they were alone for 15 minutes! At least Al is honest about it; hope Ed doesn't fire him for saying so though! As for Mike Anthony, he's not the best bass player, but his backing vocals are great and a big part of Van Halen's sound. I doubt Ed wants a hot bass player takingattention away from him anyway. Mike's perfect for the job in VH and does it well. Too bad that can no longer be said for Ed himself, huh? Ya know, Ed always said they've got enough material for 10 albums laying around, why didn't they ever produce any of it? Instead of the 3 new tunes on a GH record, why not a full release?
It doesn't matter to me, I'm still a major VH fan, I've just got too deep of roots with them. Obviously nothing personal, but I'm 38 and have loved VH for the majority of those years, hard to forget about the good times, and they still far outweigh the bad...
Probably because a large amount of that material contains Roth, and Ed would rather starve than release anything new with Roth on it, or God forbid, have to call him in to work on finishing it.
Or it could be more Ed BS, like talking about Clapton and never mentioning Blackmore or Uli Roth as influences. Made a more dramatic contrast and a better story, huh?
