Check out "Trilogy of Terror". That little f*ckin Voodoo doll with the steak knife screaming "Iyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyi" stabbing the piss out of the chick's legs. I saw it the first time when I was about 9-yrs old.

They put out "Trilogy of Terror II" a few years ago. It was decent.

Good stuff.

Scariest movie I ever saw was when I was about 6 or 7..."Squirm" gave me nightmares so bad... I still can't watch the whole thing...

My favs are:
The Shining
Bram Stokers Dracula
The Howling
Halloween 1 and 2
Poltergiest
Phantasm 1 and 2
The Eighteenth Angel
Brotherhood of the Wolf... not sure if this is the right category though...
Some movie about a kid and his evil twin brother... then you find out he doesn't have a twin anymore....Old movie but it was good...don't know the name though..
Pitch Black
The Ring was good...
Hannibal
Silence of the Lambs
Red Dragon

oh...and Maximum Overdrive...

Same here. Looks good judging by the trailers and previews I've seen so far.

I read "It" back in Grade 8 for a book report... longest book I've EVER read... I thought it was great and worth reading but it didn't seem to phase me. Same goes for the movie "Alien" and "Silence Of The Lambs", both of which I rented on DVD for the first time quite recently (within the past couple of months). I'm seriously not getting phased so I've been recommended "Se7en" for next month's free DVD rental from the video store... Looking forward to it.

I also want to go see "The Grudge" (also mentioned in this thread somewhere) but I'll have to wait for a few weeks because I'm currently swamped with midterm exams. As with "The Ring", people say the Japanese versions are much more thrilling, but I'll see.

Don't bother seeing the grudge if you want a plot. It is definitely scary as hell, but lacks some of the essentials for a good movie...plot, dialogue, acting, etc.

Salem's lot
Puppet Master (witht he little crazy dolls!)
The stuff (deadly marshmallow cream!)
It (didn't play in the woods for a while)
Seven
Mothman Prophecies (skip to the part where he is in the hotel room and you see the reflection in the mirror)
Darkness Falls (first 10 minutes, then it gets old)
Identity

Humongous.
Anyone know if this ever came to video or dvd? I just remembered this movie; I saw it as a kid on HBO in a hotel room on vacation with my parents in Virginia. My parents were watching it and my brother and I were supposed to be asleep. I don't think I've ever seen it again, but I remember it dealt with a bunch of kids who get shipwrecked on an island with a crazy guy living in the basement of his grandma's house and he ate dogs and killed people.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

One that's pretty lame now, but scared the bejesus outta me when I was younger, is "Communion".
"Cube" is pretty good, too.
On a lighter note, how about "Shaun Of The Dead"? What a great film!
