• Update on girlfriend's guitar :(

Nope, not good at all. It wasn't even a Gibson! The "fancy writing" on the headstock turned out to be Silvertone. It does have a bigsby tailpiece. It's a semi hollow with a bolt on neck. Standard three pickups.

Were the older models worth anything? The new ones suck donkey ass.

The only things that I'm seeing that could make it worth anything are the Bigsby tailpiece and the fact that it was bought in the 60's. Granted, older doesn't always mean worth something, sometimes just means shittier.

It depends on the model and the pickups. Silvertones were made by a few different companies. Good chance it isn't worth over $300 though.

Sometimes just means shitty for longer.

Give it a play, you never know. My first electric was a hand-me-down sears tobacco fade plywood strat copy. Played for sh!t, but was fun to cut up with a jigsaw after I got my first new electric.

Being silvertone, I think that would be the case!

Anyway, didn't know if perhaps Silvertone was better at one point in time. How can KISS stand it?!

The Danelectro Silvertones can be cool if they are the standard scale versions. There are a couple of Kay mades ones that are neat as well with Barney Kessel pickups.
