Re: Guitar pic test

I've seen new Carvin guitars in one store, and one store only. The Carvin store on Sunset Blvd. Imagine that!!

I think that is the sweetest carvin I have ever seen.

Nice LTD/ESP there Joe!

Thanks. I just got that from Frankencat last week. I had a jones for a P90 guitar and decided that was cheap enough to try out, plus it's got 24 frets. The Duncan Design stacked P90s are actually quite good sounding and hum-cancelling.

How does the ESP compare to the Paul?

[/ QUOTE ]
Well, since the ESP is made in Korea, it's a lower grade mahogany that is lighter than the LP. I definitely prefer the LP, but the ESP plays very nicely and gets that nice P90 single coil sound. According to Greg Crowe, most of the higher end Korean-made stuff like ESP and Dean are made in the same factory. It's really a great guitar for the money!

I noticed that there is a certain double cut missing from that picture. It would look nice right in the middle of those four you have pictured, or in my house.

Well, I didn't want to tease you, Travis, but if you so request...

And here's my string-thru Dinky HX with the JJP to finish out my collection.

Quite a diverse range of fixed-bridge guitars, and all the colors of the frickin' rainbow too! Can the homoeroticity, again.

So finally we get to see the LTD Eclipse! Never realized it had 24 frets. Big plus for me. What's the upper fret access like on that compared to your Les Paul Studio?

Looks like the curriculum at the Toejam School Of Photography has been beefed up.

Many colors in the homo rainbow! That was a Ween song in some episode of South Park.
The access to all frets is about the same on the LTD as the Les Paul. I actually find the LP a little bit better, though. I thought the little scalloped cutaway would be better for fret access on the LTD, but it seems to be a little restrictive even for my hands which I think are on the smaller side. I was expecting a little bit better, but it's not that bad. I've never had a problem reaching the 22nd fret on LPs or Strats and can adjust pretty well to just about anything.
I plan on ordering a Carvin 7-string real soon (DC747 which is H/S/H that I know you'll love )and have been debating about getting their licensed Floyd on it or stick with the hardtail. I miss my Floyds, but at least my Dinky refin will have one when WarriorX7 gets around to finishing it.

toejam, stop showing that JJP!! Damn it man, you're putting the big tease on me with that. Like when my wife takes a bath before bed time and then closes the hatch. No good.

Is that the same Carvin I saw pictured in a garage earlier this year? Regardless, it's damn nice.

I'm even going to have special wiring on the five-way switch and two add coil tap switches. The wiring will be:
Neck - full humbucker.
Inner coil of neck with middle single coil.
Middle single coil.
Inner coil of bridge with middle single coil.
Bridge - full humbucker.
Coil tap switch for neck - outer coil.
Coil tap for bridge - outer coil.

And thanks to Toru and his beautiful mahogany/koa Explorer, this will have a mahogany body with koa top, but I'm going to go with a maple neck-thru instead of mahogany, and I think I'm going with a maple board instead of ebony. Body will be high gloss with a tung oiled neck. I debated going with the whole thing tung oiled or maybe a matte satin gloss, but I think the high gloss on the body will be a little better for me. I'm waiting for a little more fundage and I should be ordering within the next week or so.
