Yes, and I'll go one futher: I think (maybe just me) that when someone does a search and finds an archived thread from six months ago, reads it, gets all excited and posts to it, thereby bringing a thread back from the dead, that they deserve a medal.

Part of what I like about this place is that often several of us get excited about the same or similar things, and we get to share that and feed off it / add to it.

And when someone likes this stuff enough to search arvhives and finds a nugget there that does it for them, and gets excited and adds to it... well, that is cool.

Then again, maybe I'm just saying all this because I'm guity of finding stuff in old threads and then posting to them! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Using the search thing for USEFUL info such as historical or technical info is one thing (a GOOD thing) but digging up an old thread just to say "Wow, cool guitar! Enjoy it" or to add a [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] is damn stupid.

Right...that's what I'm talking about, right there.
The other problem is that usually the thread has been hijacked and taken some bizarre left turn (it happens here...honest!), so half the old thread is no longer relevent to the topic title. Then I have to posts threads like this one and get Toejam all worked up about his manboobs again...see how these things happen?

OK, I know I'm guilty of the "HOLY FUCKIN SHlT" post. I left it vague on purpose. I got a LOT of people to read that thread, and I spread the word about a cool band to several members who liked them. I used that title as an attention grabber. I personally don't click on 90% of the threads on this board. Unless something actually specifies something I want to read about and discuss, I usually don't bother. I don't have time to read every post on this board, so I don't bother trying. Plus I know if there's something truly important here Ron will probably call me. You know, like if I misspell Rhoads by accident. Anyways, if you want me to agree that I'm lame, done.
