• XM Radio Anyone?

I've had XM for about 3 years now and while I love it and think it's the best thing since the proverbial "sliced bread" I have to say it sucks because I keep missing all the local shows, when you're not listening to the local station, you don't get any local shows/event info. Yeh yeh, there's plenty of sites out there with local event listings, etc, but it's not something I think about every day.

Oh well, just a little rant is all...

I've been thinking about getting it myself. Any good shows that play black/death metal and the like? I'm sick of my local radio stations.

42 Bro, Liquid Metal...

They've got all kinds of killer shows, a lot of shows that are shredder oriented, it's definitely worth the $9.95 per month, and they're working on getting local channels for news, weather, traffic, etc, but I don't know if it's been implemented yet. There's nothing better than driving to wherever, across the country, and not having one single interuption in radio, nothing...

But like KSHE or The Point here in St. Louis, I can't get local show info, free tickets and what not, "their local news" my only complaint, otherwise, I'd be a spokesperson for them, I love it and would highly recommend it to anyone.

And another downside, there's only 3-5 good music stations, for rock, Nu and then HEAVY! But I've found that between those, I can always find something, plus you've got 120 +/- more channels to choose from, a lot of them usable, news, all of the major news nets, comedy, some really killer comedy, like 30 seconds to 2 minutes of every comic you've ever heard of, all un-edited and un-censored. Kids stuff to shut them up when needed, they enjoy it. Every conceivable type of music you'd ever want or care to hear.

i've been thinking aobut getting sattelite for a while, but i do agree that i'd miss the local stuff too. it's weird, isn't it? and if you've got a zillion channels to go thru, is there a remote for safer driving?

is sirius any different from xm, or is it just different companies?

good thread, i've been thinkin about bringin this up for a while, but always forgot.

Re: XM Radio Anyone?

My brother has had XM for about two years and it's convinced me to hop on board. He upgraded and gave me a pioneer XM reciever that I can plug right into my XM ready pioneer head unit. I just need to find a power supply cable (he lost it).

The Bone Yard is a kickass station. they play some pretty obscure 80's type metal.

Hey, you can always switch back to FM if you want local info.

Anyone have or know where I can get a Pioneer GEX-P900XM XM reciever power supply cable?

Re: XM Radio Anyone?

I've had XM since May. I haven't listened to local radio stations since.

Yes there is a remote, but that doesn't make driving any safer.......I'm always looking down at the XM display & never the road.
Having so many good stations makes me want to continually channel surf.
XM 41 (The Boneyard) rocks.

I have Sirius. They have around 10 rock stations including "Hair Nation", which plays 99% of all 80's metal.
DJ's include Tawn Mastrey and other KNAC DJ's from their heyday. They have alternative, heavy, prog, underground and other stations as well. I like them better than XM, although XM has NASCAR, Howard Stern is going to Sirius 1/1/06.

All the more reason to go to XM!!!!!!!

Seriously tho, I've been thinking about getting Sirius for the Jeep, no satelite in there at all.

XM has all those stations as well, grunge, unsigned, there's prolyl about 10 or so as well, but only 3 that I really care for. The Boneyard, Squizz and Liquid Metal 42 ( Fukk you! ) ( For those XM'rs out there, know what I'm saying there...

I couldn't live without XM now, it sucks going to the lake, 2.5 hrs of garbage, static and channel surfing, although Mizzou has a couple of good ones.

XM Rules, at least satelite radio rules!!!

Buy it, buy it today!

I don't have either but I sell electronics so I know them both and I'm not sure which I would pick. They both have some excellent channels.
