Re: Went out to protest yesterday

[ QUOTE ]
Say you just got done with a gig, and someone comes over and kicks your guitar off its stand and cracks the neck because he didnt like your song selection.Did he have the right to not like your music?-yes.Did he have the right to damage your property becaue of it?-hell no.say he fell over and hurt himself, would you suddenly forget he broke your guitar and make sure he is alright, or would you make sure he is really hurt?

[/ QUOTE ]
I'd go over to him, help him up, and ask if he's okay. If he says "yeah" I'd say "good" and punch him in the kisser.

Bitter much? Hey, the Kerry Dems started this "We're leaving" story, don't blame the rest of us for running with it! Shows a lack of patriotism to leave your country because you're sniveling and moaning about an election loss. I have more respect for these No Blood For Oil demonstrators who are staying to fight for their beliefs.

Re: Went out to protest yesterday

I'm not bitter - disappointed is a far better description.

But you can't blame me for responding either. He was essentially saying "good riddance". So I responded in unkind.

I don't see it as a lack of patriotism, it is an act of despair. Bush is the least patriotic man to ever hold the office - the only person that could top him would be Cheney.

God this is retarded. I think we need to be like the Hamer board and keep political bullshit to ourselves. Ace, I commend you for protesting and speaking your mind, and standing up for what you believe in as well as helping the old lady. To you guys who would "blow the girl off the hood of your car," you're full of ****. I can say with a fair amount of certainty that no one here could look someone in the eye and kill them for standing on the roof of their car. I'm so tired of the bitching and moaning and gloating about this election that it's to the point where I am almost embarassed to be an American. Our ancestors didn't fight and die so you could act like **** children.

I once was in a protest march... It was a free Tibet march and it just happened to be going by us in Chicago. My friends and I joined in because we were bored... The protesters had to kindly but forcefully ask us to leave aftera few blocks. We were shouting really loud obscure things. I recall we started a chant to Free Mumia

Boxcar, no one's forcing you to click on these threads, are they? You don't want to read it, simply DON'T; very simple.

I may disagree with those protesters but I defend their right to protest, as long as they don't riot. If their side had won, I would be bummed, but shake it off and carry on. If your party's on the outs, you won't influence events by alienating those who are in. You will just royally fukk yourself for an indefinite period of time.

Most Americans would like to have a year or two of internal peace before the 2008 campaign
begins.

Re: Went out to protest yesterday

I'm not just talking about these threads. I'm talking about people around me, people I live with, people I'm in class with or I work with, the media, everyone. It's fine to have differing opinions but John Kerry was right about what he said to Bush-we are too divided and we need to work on that. We won't win a war on terror or on anything if we can't get along with eachother at home. The problem is, everyone is too caught up in taking sides on opposite ends of the bullshit line to realize that we're all supposed to be on the same side. No one is going to win anything if things keep up like this.

I may have agreed with the protesters, however, history has shown us again and again that getting large mobs of highly agataited people together and all whipped up solves absolutely jackshit.
YetAnotherOne speaks well for me.

BTW, the police are in no way indebted to protect morons from themselves.

[/ QUOTE ]

Couldn't have said it better. Keeping it as bland as possible as not to get it pulled., we were protesting a rally, quite a few people in our group got out of hand. Well when you're protesting The Big Cheese, and you have people doing the usual screaming and yelling, it gets hectic. When you then add to it, people getting out of hand, and the secret service there, you just spell disaster.

Quite a few of us wish we were not there, because there were very many people, who turned a normal rally, into a damn scene. What did we end up with? Instead of a normal write up in the paper, it focused on the people getting arrested. I couldn't help but think, way to go people, more reason for people to disagree with us.

And who's fault is it? Who's been spewing the outright lies and turning this country against each other? Come on, if there wasn't soo many different agendas, especially in the media, this country would be united, it was to a large degree right after 9-11.

But then came a wacked out campaign of lies, deceit and distortion...

" Hello, is this thing on?"

Re: Went out to protest yesterday

Boxcar - how old are you? Are you familiar with American politics of the late 1960s? That was a FAR more divisive time in our nation's history than are current days. Michael Moore et. al made a conscious effort to drag us back into the politics of those days and now we're living with the consequences.

The only way to tone down any divisiveness we perceive is for those preaching it to repudiate it and move back to the mainstream. Since those responsible for the degeneration of the tone of political discourse are primarily on the left, they're the ones who must bear the responsibility for either continuing the downward spiral or ending it. There were many occasions post WW II when Democrats controlled the House, Senate, and Presidency and they NEVER moved to the right so don't expect the current crop of Republicans to move to the left to accommodate the demands of screeching moonbats this time around.
