Re: Went out to protest yesterday

I think we're pushing the button here. Obviously Republicans want their way, and Democrats want theirs. No slander in that.

We can't alienate someone for their opinion, whatever it is.

Freedom, no matter what the cost, that's my America, and people take it for granted, we can protest, or we can vote how we choose. Some people would silence our opinions, but in the same respect, they are like the opressors, we're trying to be free from.

In a simple (again, trying very hard so it doesn't get yanked) way, it's like this.

We are a country, with many different opinions, and the freedom to express those opinions. The truth of the matter is, when we start to silence those opinions, we're going to be like the places we've spilled blood to be free from. America was founded because we wanted freedom. We have to be thankful we can express and opinion, or protest our opinions, no matter how right or wrong someone else feels about it.

Re: Went out to protest yesterday

This is exactly what I'm talking about. You can't tell me that Michael Moore has so much power over the general population of America that he caused the division that there is now. I'm not defending him-I think he's a douche. People like him trying to drag us back into the old school political ways isn't the sole cause, it's people who went along with it obliviously, people who sided against that line of thinking obliviously, and people who just don't give a **** and are oblivious to both ends. Maybe all I'm saying is, people need to smarted up. Blindly following any cause is stupid. Living in the bible belt, I heard a lot of people say that they voted for George Bush because a vote for him is a vote for God, and that's bullshit. There's too much misinformation, the media can be blamed for putting it out there but the public can be blamed for believing it, especially in this day and age where information is so readily available on all different fronts. Like I said, everyone is to blame on some level. The left bearing the responsibility of the divisiveness and trying to fix it will simply not be enough-everyone has to make an effort to see past the constraints that are put on them and that they put on themselves and really try to do something for the greater good. This to me seems more important than any war on terrorism from outside of the country.

Thought the songs were good, but the production was very two dimensional. I'd love to hear it remastered.

Box, I get what your saying. America needs different opinions, and activists out there however. Mike More is not someone I go to for my information. I think he's a genius, the things he does. Do I own his vids? Nope, would I? Nope. I can agree with his ends on who he does not like, but a lot of his why, I cannot.

Does that make sense?

His video, F 911, is chock full of informatio, and if you're an informed individual, you can pick out what you want. But what you said highlights it the best,

""There's too much misinformation, the media can be blamed for putting it out there but the public can be blamed for believing it, especially in this day and age where information is so readily available on all different fronts.""

I think that's a statement everyone can agree on.

But right now Republicans ARE reaching out to Democrats, who are spitting in their faces.
Once you have phlegm on your face, then yeah,
you'll react with anger once again.

The right to proitest is sacred; there is NO right to riot. If you start tearing stuff up, throwing things or otherwise harming lives and property and then the police are justified to tear gas you, smack you with batons, taser you, whatever it takes. Hysterical displays of venom are not helping the left; they will drive most Americans to the right, because frankly, people DO value safety over freedom.

There's that sheep thing again... It's so hard to say that and easy at the same time, although I agree with it. People are easily misled, and once they hear something, that's it, no more, they won't listen to reason and after plenty of factual evidense to disprove what they belive.

It was funny hearing various radio people making random calls to folks, and asking them questions, Who's the vice pres, I dunno, who's running for Pres? "I dunno" Who are voting for? Oh, i'm voting for so and so. Why? Because I don't want my son to get drafted or one of many other reasons that simply aren't true, it was very humorious, but insulting to the American public at the same time, that they could be so naive...

I don't have the answer, I'm not the guy. I belive what I choose to and that's that.

Re: Went out to protest yesterday

Boxcar - I meant no offense and wasn't suggesting that you (or anyone here) was necessarily part of the Michael Moore crowd. I used him as an example because the Democratic party latched onto his ideas and elevated his status far beyond the lunatic fringe to which he'd otherwise have been limited. I say this because, if you watched the Democratic convention, you saw Michael Moore seated next to ex-President Jimmy Carter (i.e., you saw him put in a place of honor by a party that was trying to capitalize on him / his ideas / his perceived base). But Moore is far from the only divisive figure on the left and he's far from the most mainstream among them. Some of Howard Dean's rants could have been read straight from a Michael Moore script, ditto some of ex-VP Al Gore's, etc. The Democratic party took a hard turn to the left this election cycle and as a result I believe they have relatively farther to go in returning to the center, that's all.

The voting for God stuff is nuts and gives me the creeps as well. I voted the way I did because one candidate promised to cut taxes & reform our tax code while the other promised to raise taxes and preserve the status quo. One of those options will boost our economy, create jobs, and make us more competitive in the global marketplace; the other will have the opposite effect. For me that is, and will always be, the overriding issue.

Re: Went out to protest yesterday

I also agree the voting for God is crap. Have your religious convictions, don't try to run the country with them. I voted for preservation of my union job, and against the outsourcing of it. To me, what good is God, if I don't have a job to eat?

I agree, the Democrats use Michael Moore, WAY too much, however, he's a figure people relate to, and he's able to sway peoples opinions. Being a Democrat, I disagree with this approach, but the other option is, have an informed America, where people make up their own minds, free and devoid of God, Allah, or Bob's will. It ain't happening.

Strangle was saying about the people who didn't know who was who, well guess what, it's a sad fact, that our American people don't take an active role in it. You wouldn't believe how many people I spoke to about voting,

I don't have the time. It's too hard. It's complicated. Why do I have to go there? My vote doesn't count. They're all liars.

They are all things people have said, about both people who ran. And it's like, look how sad you are America. You can't even take a bit of time to become informed on an issue.

Voting with God...didn't we find America on the principles of FREE PRACTICE OF RELIGION?

I may be the minority on this board, but I DO NOT value safety over freedom.

Freedom at any cost, no matter how large, that's my America.

well tim, i'd consider you for my cabinet when i'm in power, but kev already has the co-overlord position.

first thing we do is make the NL use the DH.

then we carpet rhode island; it's our smallest state, why not dress it up a bit?

then i'll get down to the rest of the stuff like people having kids they can't take care of (mandatory norplant in females at 13; if they come back in 5 years when it wears off, they get college grants), and air strikes on sex offenders. also, all prisoners currently in the prison system will be put down; where there's smoke, there's fire. bam! no more prison overcrowding.
