Re: David Lee Roth Career Change - Paramedic in NY

Actually I just heard a story about Dave's new career. It was on the radio today. He said that hes been out on lots of calls and the best part was that noone recognized him. It was also reported that he saved some guys life in the Bronx a few weeks ago using that defribulator thingee. Good for Dave.

Hope Jake makes a come back. He's had some problems, but at least he doesn't have an older brother helping to ruin the legacy.

Ed's too busy up his bro Al's ass, living in Malibu drinking heavily and believing he is still relevant cause Al and legions of sheep tell him so. You think Ed or Al would do something genuinely from the heart for the good of society? Think they would become paramedics or otherwise give back? Be seen actually working in rough areas like the Bronx? Nope. They are selfish deluded MF's.

Maybee Ed and Al can just play and tour together as a two piece, call themselves Van Halen, and split the money 50/50. After all, Mikey doesn't have the "VH genius gene" anyway. Therefore, he's disposable like evryone else in the VH camp.

Actually some of those Michael Anthony groove lines were pretty good..

I had to play 60+ of those damn songs ..most were easy ...some not so easy.

There was some great Sammy Moments ...some.

But Dave was equal to 1/2 of Van Halen.
"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.

Re: David Lee Roth Career Change - Paramedic in NY

Dave figures if he's the one to show up and defib Ed when his heart stops, THEN maybe they'll let him back in!

Too bad he couldn't keep the Eat 'em and Smile lineup together, and also that Jason Becker got sick right when he got the DLR gig. Jason
seems like he'd be a team player and stick around. He could've been Dave's Randy Rhoads
and made a big difference in Dave's career.

Still, Dave's really never had a post-VH guitarist that didn't smoke Ed's ass 8 ways to Sunday. Ed pretty much stopped shining in 1984, with a few good moments with Sammy but the thrill was gone.

DRS... Not for me honestly.. For me Becker and Roth would have been better than Van Hagar or Van Extreme (well little is not better than that) But that is just for me personally

Amen to that. I don't understand why people rip on Eddie so much for doing what he wants. Van Halen is his band and always has been. If the band was called "Roth", maybe I could understand the gripes. At least he is still out there playing live and rocking his ass off. Imagine if you were a Cream era Clapton fan and had to witness what has happened to Eric - sheesh.

Jimmy... regardless of the name Roth was the front man. That is the VH I like the other two experiments have provided very little that interests me.

Re: David Lee Roth Career Change - Paramedic in NY

I can understand anyone liking VH with Roth more than another version, I feel that way myself. My point is that I don't feel the need to call EVH a hack, washed up, drunk, shell of his former self, whatever. He's still Eddie and he has accomplished more and inspired more than any of us JCF yahoos ever will or could.

If you prefer Roth over Hagar - cool. But to take cheap shots at a guy that has given us so much great music - lame.

Re: David Lee Roth Career Change - Paramedic in NY

Well, in Dave's own words:

"Dead or Aliiiiiive"

Unless of course Ed wrote that one (dunno...don't care). Seems a bit prophetic you say? Well...lets explore:

"Broken down -n- dirty...Dressed in rags" ---Umm, sounds like ED.

"From the day my Mama told me Boy you pack your bags" ---Yup...Ed again.

Does this mean Alex will be the Mayor that drives a pick-up truck? Or that Michael Anthony will serve on the "out of luck" jury. Only time will tell I suppose.

Re: David Lee Roth Career Change - Paramedic in NY

Today Ed is brken down and a drunk although he wasn't during most of the Sammy period or not as bad as he is today. I can't simply stand by a gut because he wrote good music way back when and that gives him a lifelong pass.

I must admidt I am not a very big Vah Halen fan. Saw Van Hagar once. I respect what Ed had done but those days are past for me. I don't give anyone a free pass. Metallica... great but what have you done for me since 88? Jaymz became drunk and his ego got too big (sound familiar)

Jim Morrison - great stuff then his ego belly and liver all got too large he died before he could really put a bad mark on his name.

Just some small examples of how I feel

[/ QUOTE ]Look at it this way: Someone you love, a friend or family member, has everything going for them and has in fact acheived the pinnacle of their profession. Then they let an alcohol problem take them down to the gutter, costing them their family and the respect of most that revered them before. Wouldn't that piss you off? MOst people hit the bottom because they suffer financial reversals or their business goes bad or something similar. Instead, Ed has thrown away everything of valuebecause he disregarded that value. Most of that has to do with ego and greed, and unwillingness to listen to good advice. He's drinking himself into his grave, and the people who love his music and legacy are both saddened and angered by it. He's going to kill himself drinking and smoking when no one should have more to be happy about than him. It's a waste of a position most of us would give anything to be in.
